Default Last Man Standing and Fearless

Fearless means you past all MORALE tests.

Last Man Standing is a LEADERSHIP test.

However, Fearless explicitaly states you never fall back.

Do fearless units fall back if they miss a Last Man Standing test?

These two rules contradict each other. Does anyone have anything official on this?

ive always taken it as no matter how low LD is on the model fearless people always pass morale and pinning tests and even though the last man standing is a leadership check they pass it because they are so crazy.

Fearless units never fall back. Even if they fail the Ld test, they don't fall back.

Last man standing in reality means the fear of moving forward because the rest of your squad has benn killed.

Fearless means you have no fear. Period.

Factor Fearless into Last man standing, you get: No fear of moving forward because the rest of your squad has been killed.

Fearless overrides last man standing.

Yeah, that's what I would say too, but I also recall an FAQ saying that. Can't remember which one, but I think I recall it saying that. Plus, I can't find them on the GW site.

But since a "morale" test uses the LD value, that means all LD tests are passed by fearless models in most cases.

If still in doubt, roll a dice. Toss a coin. Play paper scissors stone. Have a knife fight between army commander models playing this music*.

Fluffwise, I would have to agree that the Fearless troop would not fall back regardless of what state his unit may be in.

The rules, however, state that the Last Man Standing check is a leadership test in particular. Unfortunately, fearless troops are assumed to only pass all moral tests that they are called to make.

This would imply to me that the troop must still make the test, and would fall back if failed, just as any standard unit.

Not entirely exact.

LMS is a leadership test. Fearless troops have to take it.

HOWEVER, Fearless says "You never fall back." NOT "You never fall back since you never fail morale checks."

Therefore, You have to take the test, but don't suffer any consequences when you fail.

Let's just say that it's a bit weird.

It's one of those wierd SNAFU's that come from literal interperetation of the rules.

The bottom line is theres no point in taking the "All on your own" test because nothing happens if you fail it.

The key words in the fearless rule are never and cannot. it doesn't make a provision for All on your own tests. Though by the letter of the rules fearless models must still take all on your own tests, they simply aren't affected by failing them because they never perform the action required if the test is failed.
