Default GW Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday there was an Easter Egg Hunt event at our GW. I was informed about it from a friend and I was excited to go. Alas, I could not make it because I slept in... my friends did go however and they told me all about it.

I was told it was quite a simple but fun game. You were to bring in a 10 man troop squad of any kind. After all the players were ready they would set up on a big board. There would be many, many, many markers all over the board and the first to find the Golden Gobbo would win. The players were told to watch out for traps, monsters, and other hidden surprises. Of course there would be an awsome prize.

This could have been an exciting and fun event. Too bad that a horde of children showed up and took over. So children came and screwed up most of the event. Space Marines were everywere. Everyone wanted that prize it seemed so my friend decided to give the kids a taste o their own medicine and took out a squad of grey knights. After an hour of playing, some kid took home the prize. Naturally everyone was excited to see what the prize would be. 20 dollar gift certificate for GW perhaps?

WRONG

The GW employee went out and got a small bag of chocolate eggs and gave it to the poor kid...
Does anyone else think that GW is really cheap? They could have at least given a model as a prize or somthing better than a wee bag of chocolate...

So all in all the event was not very fun. The game could have been good but it was screwed up under the circumstances.

Did this event happen anywhere else in the world and how did it turn out?

i'm sure had it been a more veteran player then the GW staff would have given a more valuble prize... a model of their choice, $20 gift voucher... as for the simple fact a kid won it, well then a bag of eggs would have been good.

Yes, the prize should judged as to the age of the winner.

Well, not necessarily. You'd like to indulge in 2 pounds chocolate too...

Perhaps the GW employee knew they'd be infected by 10 year olds. So they prepared. By giving them candy. So they could be hyper...

Now, now we were all children at one time weren't we. And some of us still are. Pity the poor children and teach them proper etiquette.

how does this prove that GW is cheap?
I think this was rather funny.
i have a feeling that the whole outcome would have been better if those little kids didn't come. it was promising. or are you guys mad they gave chocolate? as i said i think this was funny, the whole thing was probably to have fun! and why would they have to give a good prize, it was they who set it up and organized it. lighten up. :funny:

Wow I'm appaled.

Not by the actions of the GW center but by the pettiness of this paragraph.

So they organized an easter egg hunt game, that's awesome. It's clever fast and fun and they probably came up with some amusing special rules.

And then the event was RUINED by CHILDREN showing up.

Who do you think the event was designed for? It was an event that would allow younger gamers to use just a few miniatures to do something fun.

I think a bag of choclate is a perfectly fine and reasobable prize to get for winning an Easter Egg hunt.

I'm sorry if this sounds to mean spirited but I'm getting slightly frustated by how fast everyone is to attack GW on these boards. They make and support the game(s) this Forum is all about. So why gripe about them?

Yeah they're not perfect, but who is?
