Default broken combat

i've heard about this rule several times and know it's standard play in tournaments, but i cant seem to find it in the rulebook. can anyone give me a page #?

Win the combat by killing all your opponents? Great! Consolidate!

Win combat by running them down as they attempt to flee? Coolio! Consolidate!

Almost run down those sneaky and running bastards as they try to run away? Run after them I + D6 inches (The same total that was less than theirs)!

you could be talking about base to Base contact rule

go to the sweeping advance section you will find it there read carefully and it says that if you are attempeting to flee but there is no one into base to base contact then there is no sweeping assualt

Broken combat could mean "to break from close combat" meaning using Hit and Run to get away, Or that the loosing side failed morale and that unit is said to have "broke" meaning their morale crumbled, and they then try to run away.

Yeah, there could be many ways Broken Combat could be taken... those were just the first two that came to mind. Maybe I got lucky an nailed what he was asking about...

Uhhh...actually the first two result in a 'Massacre!' result, you move D6 inches. If you fail to run them down, they flee 2D6 inches, and you consolidate.
