Some people in this thread are actually trying to claim that you can shoot UNDER vehicles because you may be able to see a model in between the bottom of the tank hull and the table! Personally I see this as being a clear violation of the spirit of the rules and being somewhat dubious letter-wise. Nonetheless some people are attempting to shoot the feet off people! Quick! Everyone model mudflaps on your vehicles!

...and people wonder why I don't go on the GW forums any more. Look, going form the rules the tank for all intents in purposes is a block size three in hieght and how ever wide and long it is. There are no gaps in it rules wise. They only exist in the spirit of things which also says that those gaps are on the move because the tank is on the move, the turn just being a way to break things down and sort out the confusion of the battlefield. |

Easily the stupidest waste of time pixels have ever depicted.

Oh, Come on, this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard (and I've heard some things...). So their saying a space marine, in power armour, would disembark from his rhino, lay down in the mud, get in a workable position, fire an extremely accurate shot under a vehicle at an enemies FEET more than 25 ft away, get up quickly, and get ready to defend themselves. 'Inconceivable!' In midevil times, a night in full armour could hardly run far, let alone lay down and get back up quick as lightning (if I recall, they couldn't at all). All races have some sort of armor, some very heavy. Also, on the armor topic, power armour would be most likely as tall/taller than the space below the rhino when lying down. So they are sticking their gun blindly under the tank, in which they are more likely to hit a fuel tank than an enemies foot.
Also, imagine 10 guardsmen or chaos marines all lying down behind the transport and fighting for a shot. Nothing would hit. Finally, to have a large enough space for it to be logical, it would be very easy for an enemy throwing a grenade to blow a hole out of the bottom. It wouldn't even have to be that well placed! This is the craziest thing ever, and not only for fluff, but there are gaming reasons too...... INCONCEIVABLE

Good lord. If someone tried that against me I would seriously beat them over the head with the BBB until their brain started working agian. All that sort of rule would do is give people who convert all their models to lie down an advantage.

Ugh. I like one of the early posts:
"No. No. No. Read the rules. No. No. No. The ruels, dammnit!. No. NO." Man, is that barbaric. Ugh. And a mod mentions how the last topic went off into flaming and insults. Wow.

Just a notice. I posted this on another forum and one of the guys in favour of shooting under vehicles got a lil pissed. Just saying that we all should be careful here in case the same thing happens (no one wants a mod to slap them in the head).

In any case, point them to this. Page 20 of the rule book. It even gives a picture diagrams of what can and cannot be seen with line of sight rules. I would suggest they carefully read the first bullet point in the second column where the first line is, I quote: Quote:

The people who agree with this use the argument that LoS can be traced over or around a vehicle through models eye view. This is a rule I dont really support since it can lead to people intentionally modifying their models in order to gain an in-game benefit.
Tracing LoS under a vehicle is just an extreme use of this rule and one that I, and many others, feel is against the spirit of the rules, which IMO should be followed
