[Sp_Inquisitor]

This forum is a great and valuable resource for many newcomers that come into the game, or for average players wanting to step up their skills. The number of members that have had years of experiences and knowledge is a great asset to the site.

I applaud all of you veterans and old-timers that deal with the inquisitive and sometimes ignorant rookies of the game.

That being said... I would like to address the amount of 'noob' bashing. Many posts by members of the forum like to talk about that rude player, or that wise-mouth kid that just doesn't get the hobby like you do. We all get upset, and posting your anger is better then hitting the kid (most of the time :), but you need to remember that you a rookie once too. >

This leads me to my question: Describe a time where you felt belittled or looked down on by a so-called veteran. This can be anything from an annoyed GM worker, or your older brother telling you that your army sucks. Anything that resulted you being put down by an older gamer.

Just think of this a therapy and a test of empathy. ;D

I was scolded by everyone in my gaming store when i have a hive tyrant retreat from a force commander, so that my pore mines could kill him. I was called a pussy and it was actually funny, but still, having people scold you is never good.

All too true my friend. I think this forum does very well in that respect. I didn't get yelled at when I messed up on an army list. I actually got karma for the effort that put into it. I was a n00b to the game once, and it is definitely not nice to be called names or yelled at.

I once made the (outragous) claim that the HH submunition didn't scatter. I was under the impression you rolled to hit, and then placed a large blast Template over the unit in question. Laughed out of the store.

i haven't really been belittled by anyone because i never played a game a a hobby store and im the best in my gaming group [at least in 40K].

my brother says i suck at warhammer fantasy battles, and he's right. i do suck at it. that's why i stick with my tau.

I played Fantasy since I was 6 so I don't exactly remember too well what I was like in those days...so when I finally came around to 40k about 8-9 years ago or so, it wasn't that amazing of a difference and the only thing I got heckled for was playing a beardy army (Flesh Tearers, back in those days NOBODY played them because they didn't have rules or a history- I just thought they'd look best of all the Blood Angel Successors) and the only annoying thing I did was refer to it as "Warhammer in Space" to irritate people and constantly note how "this works differently in Warhammer".

Hell...to this day...even referring to Fantasy as 'Warhammer' annoys/confuses some, but meh...they can live with it :-\

I never actually played in a store... and all my friends started at the same time... so I never had bad experiences with snooty veterans.

Hm, I always refer to WFB as Warhammer also, nobody seems to get confused about it though...

It's mainly just new players that only play 40k and think Warhammer is kind of weird with it's more complicated moving around and characters...and with such people I admit to being snooty. It's okay to be new to something but the real world isn't the Imperium and purposefully being ignorant of something for a long time doesn't make you stronger or safer...

The only time I was bashed was when I was playing 1500 points vs a guys nid army. I guess he always beat them or something because they said I would get "raped." I didn't lose a single model that game... It was funn yto see the looks on their faces afterwards though =)
