I've made an I.g. force of decint size but not big enough for tournys and the like.
I also want to make a space marine force, currently i can use my i.g. as demon hunter alies in the marines.
Any farther though will drown me in guard and I'll be finacally loked to them for a year.
Plese help guide me.

first things first,
you used way too many question marks one will suffice thank you.

second,i would personally go for either marines or elite imperial guardsmen,
to un lock your financially

i started off thinking like that. then i said 2 leman russes and a demolisher, then i moved on to two leman russes and an exterminator and i kept going till i ended up with a massive armoured battalion. I wish IG could take more heavy support options.

Anyways, id go with whichever army you like best. if you like IG more than SMurfs but are thinking of getting SMurfs because its cheaper dont. you'll regret it, just stick to what you like and eventually you'll enjoy it more. I'd never trade any of my IG armies for a SMurf army, infact i wouldnt trade it for a SMurf chapter. If you like SMurfs better go with them *cough*dont*cough*join the guard*cough*ill give your beer*cough*

Why not collect both?

Lets face it, if you want a Guard army painted to a decent standard, they are going to take a long time to put together, especially if you want to do any converting or are aiming for an all-infantry force. However, a 1500pt Marine army can be put together far more quickly and easily.

So do what I'm doing, collect a force of Marines for gaming with, then once you get to about 1500-2000pts of Marines, leave them and get on with your Guard. Of course, neither of my armies will be done particularly quickly, as all the models and vehicles in both will be extensively converted, but that doesnt hold true for a "stock" army.

everyone and their monkey plays marines. take an elite guard regiment.
