Default For the Emporer or to Damnation?

I can't decide! Chaos or loyal marines? I like both equally. Tactically, I'm better at loyal marines...but chaos is so appealing.

Please vote and voice your opinion on the following matter;

1)What you think is better
2)For those who have read my posts alot, what you'd say I'd be more fit for

And please no flaming or spamming. I don't want "Marines suck, be chaos!"

Well, considering you do have the Chaos Codex for your avatar... ;D

I typically base my army decisions on the fluff of the race first, with playability second. For instance, I'm not the biggest fan of Eldar fluff (seems a little boring to me) so I will probably never play them, while Tyranids have awesome fluff and great tactics which is why I play them. I don't particularily like Chaos, they seem to evil and sadistic for my tastes, while loyalisty Marines are pretty cool (especially SWs) since they are unrelenting in their quest to protect the Imperium.

Base your desicion on how you want your army to play and to look like. Don't purchase 300$ worth of stuff before you realize you don't actually like the way they look.

Chaos is pretty cool... wheather Traitor leigons or Mutants you crave, you can design pretty much anything.

Plus, you can SUMMON DAEMONS!!! How cool is THAT?!

I personally think chaos space marines are better because of the fact that they can pump out HQ's and marines even stronger then loyalist marines (all at a reasonable price, ofcourse), and they can take units that loyalist can't, such as the ordinance blasting chaos defiler or infantry killing deamons. *And they can be customized to just about any style of play with the four chaos gods and the various chaos undivided cults. *One of the main reasons I like chaos is that practically each unit is a work of art, and personally think that chaos space marines are one of the best looking armies out there, provided you put plenty of time and effort into them, and, ofcourse, you can spend hours converting your models to make them exactly the way you want to see them on the battlefield. *and theres also the fact that the space marines are the most played army by far, so being chaos space marines would somewhat individualize your army, as opposed to the first thought in everyones mind when you walk in the store being "theres another space marine player". *

On the other hand though, I'd say you would be more fit being a loyalist space marine, from all of the post you've made here and the few games that we played before I sold my tau in hopes of finding a new army that fit my style of play more. *

FOR THE EMPEROR

I would go for the loyalist SM's, even though chaos had the imperium by a nads hair they screwed up. Why the hell did horus lower his sheilds, did his finger slip or did he really feel guilty. I wonder what his last thoughts were "ohhh *&^k i'm a dumbass ass" as he acidently lowered the shields of " did i remember to take the thrash out" as the emperor killed him.

Which chaos God would you worship, and which chapter would you be? That's kinda important.

SMR:

The way I see it, I can suggest two things to you:

1 - Chaos (Codex: Chaos Space Marines)

The reason for this, is because the models are great. You can have such a ball modeling a fantastic grim looking army that really takes the whole 40k and Warp feeling and inject it into a really variable army. Chaos can be near anything. You can be the king of shooting or assault. You can have daemonic beasts, Monstrous creatures, powerful tanks, insane infantry, hordes of weak infantry, all kinds of heavy weapons, special weapons, veteran skills galore, etc. You can play several legions, cults and even make your own and even then, there are more options (such as Lost and the Damned). Chaos will allow you to play however you want. It's also a gold mine for powerful characters if you really like having a real "hero" in your force. Just the sheer flexibility of the army is worth building it; as you can never truly get bored of tired of them. You can always change up and have a whole new army with the exact same models, just with new rules from another legion or cult and a new strategy. The fun never ends. To top it off, you can make your own models, use other models from other armies, and mix and match and it's totally ok and in fact looks better.

2 - Space Marines (Codex: Space Marines) - Using Chaos Models

Perhaps you like a few aspects of the Space Marine codex. It truly is a wonderful codex and will allow you to be powerful in both small, medium and large games. You have a great flexibility and wonderful options. You can have a lot of things very similar to Chaos, but it's a little more balanced for the Space Marines, so that you cannot go too crazy with an HQ (though you still can go a little crazy, just not as crazy as Chaos). You can have powerful infantry, powerful tanks, fast units, etc. Just being able to have things like Whirlwinds, elite dreadnoughts, scout teams with snipers and multi-melta bikes is enough to really make this codex attractive. Plus, with this force, you can take really cool allies, like Daemonhunters or Witch Hunters and in the future, Alien Hunters for a really shiny force with an Inquisitor and Assassin at your side for example. However, I would suggest using Chaos models in place of the Space Marine ones, and simply use the rules of the normal Space Marines. Then simply make up some fluff that they're a chaos chapter that kept to their old ways for example; so there was no regimental change, there was no true re-organization and all. They simply took on the look of the Grim future as they conquer and push forth their supremacy.

Play what looks great to you; Use the rules that suit you.
Personally - I think I would lean to recommend to you, a Space Marines army (codex Space Marines) with Chaos Models. And to top it off; you could easily play BOTH armies that way, with two different codices, changing up when ever you feel like it. You could do the same thing with Space Marines, but Chaos just looks better

Cheers!

I like the double-agent technique. Praise the emperor...until the time is right to strike. Just like the Clone Troopers in Star Wars Episode 3.

I voted for Chaos because I think you'll find the army more rewarding in the long run.

You've already proven skill with a loyalist chapter, and so you have a strong tactical core with marines. With Chaos- you'll be taking your skills a bit further- not just with strategies and tactics, but painting, modelling, and even fluff-writing become more complex. Like Malveaux said- Chaos is one of those armies that you can design a new strategy for, constantly! It is a much more pliable list, and while it lacks the solidity that a Codex Marine army has, the flexibility will make you a much better player in the long run.
