Been wondering if anyone has heard or seen any rumours about the supposed Chaos Legion codexes or Books of Chaos (I've heard them called both).

I miss having options :[ the CSM Codex is overly bland...especially standing next to the weight of the new Marine codex Rulebook.

Not really, no. I suspect they just threw Chaos players a bone with that, I wouldn't expect any rumors for a few more years at least. They probably haven't even started on them.

i doubt it will happen. even though it is almost a must. the marines have rules for original chapters, why not chaos?. and each chapter should be devided to a single god OR undevided, and use the demon type used by the certain god, no else. meaning undivided uses furies and a new undivided greater demon. no crappy generic lessers

The question was asked at a seminar where Jervis Johnson was speaking. From what I recall he said it's something they would be interested in doing, which led to all sorts of internet rumors from one books covering the four god specific legions to rumors of every legion getting their own codex.

Obviously, if it were to happen it would most likely be one book for the 4 god specific legions. GW can't keep up with their 4 off shoot SM chapters, so there's no way they would be able to do 9 books for the Chaos legions, nor is there enough distinction between all the legions to warrant that many books.

I doubt they will ever do it, rather something that would be cool they just don't have time for. I imagine by the time they would be able to do it the Chaos codex would be up for a revamp and they could just better incorporate the legions back into the codex, like the 3.5 book, without the horrible unbalancing issues.

It would be a welcome event, however, I really don't see it happening with the 4 god legions represented in the current Codex:CSM. Quite plainly, it would be the equivalent of Codex:SM featuring the Death Company then people asking whether a Blood Angels codex was imminent.

Well night lords and alpha legion sort of need one. They are hard to represent in the rules.

I could easily see them maybe either combining all the chaos cults into a single codex, or even just putting them one by one into White Dwarf.
Either way, I think it would be great to have the minor legions to have some of their rules back, as well as a possibility of wholly dedicated armies getting some additional bonuses

Screamer killer I am sorry to tell you but 5ht edition messed these up with things needing to be updated and all of the releases so these are probably shelved for a long time. 5th edition pushed this at least 2 releases back. 5th ed and space marines.

I know many codices that need to be updated before this happens, this would just be a pretty cool icing on the cake to have done eventually.
I bet this codex is going to be out before they release the Dark Eldar codex though :/

I can tell you right now that this (rumor) have not been mentioned by the people I in directly communication with.

Only thing I know for sure is the IQ codex in May.
