Well, just got the weakly GW newsletter, and here you go -

released October 18th

The exact reason for the recall was that the connector on the back of the plastic housing where the air hose connects was too weak. It was separating because of the air pressure.

I'm curious to see what they did to fix it.

They used duct tape. Lots of it.

Although I think i was told it was cheaper just to get a badger 350 single action airbrush...

It is. The spray gun is modified from a 350. Since the modification appears to have only been detrimental from a functional stand point, getting the 350 is the better move.

The connector was made of plastic and should have been made from metal. The pressure caused by usage was making the plastic connector rupture and in some cases explode. Metal Connectors were specified but the manufacturers cut corners and caused a dangerous paint gun.
Hence the last minute recall.
