Default A Question On 5th ed.

Ok, I have heard about the new SM codex, and does anyone know if they plan on scrapping the traits, because i use take the fight to them, so a good portion of my men have chain swords and pistols, and it would cause me serious problems if i would have to re-make them...

while it's really just me being insecure about this new 5th edition, any help (logic) would be helpful...

I only go by rumours when i say this, but from what i heard, the commanders that you take will decide on the type of your army, like a trait man...

Yes but i have also heard that (Like DA and BA) that marines will come with bolters and bolt pistols as standard (possibly CC weps)

But this should really be put in the rumours area. Have you read the SM rumours thread? it might help answer this question a bit better.

I believe scrapping traits has been confirmed. At least according to Bell of Lost Souls.

I think this is true, but definetly not CC weapons too. They would be much more expensive.

From what I've heard, Marines will only have bolters/bolt pistols which does suck.

However, I also heard a rumor that you will be able to drop your bolter in exchange for a close combat weapon. I hope that one is true, it would make my life (as well as your's) much easier.

Traits will be going the way of the Squat, you can be sure of that.

I think Mamba is right. In the main rules there is no true grit either so one would assume you get all 3.

I really don't like the fact that they did that with the Chaos Space Marines. Dark Angels and Blood Angels worked the normal way. They had a Bolt Pistol extra, which let sergeants and characters get an extra attack by taking a close combat weapon. But they didn't have an effective base attacks of 2, which is what all basic Chaos Space Marines get now for no additional cost.
