Default BL discontinues both Warhammer RPGs

Linky

Yeah, BL has decided to discontinue both the new Dark Heresy RPG and WFRP in September and focus everything on the novels. It's shit, and I hate them for it.

Ok, so lemme get this straight. They cancel support for a product that not only sold out of pre-order copies, but did so in 6 minutes in the case of the special collector's edition.

If that's not outstanding stupidity, I don't know what is!

Dang...

Odd, I thought development of these products costs a lot of cash...
Why drop it right when it should start earning, so strange.

I know, and I heard that the game itself is really quite good. Imagine what they would sell for the other two core books they were going to do? New planets, Rogue Traders, alien races and finally Marines. It seems that they've really shot themselves in the foot regarding sales and positive customer impact.

Unless I'm reading the site wrong, it says these will be the last releases, not that they are "discontinuing" them. Presumably, you will still be able to buy the books (and by god, I want Dark Heresy...).

I had heard Black Industries had gone under, could this be something to do with it?

Really? Last I heard, they sold out of the DH preorders, and special edition sets sold out in six minutes!

I wouldn't take it one too much faith, the person who told me seems to delight in all GW failings, but it could be true - he doesn't lie.

And by true, I mean a grain of truth, if not accurate.

My FLGS got short-shipped, only got 2 in, and while his distributor has promised him more, I think he already has 15-20 people who wanted to preorder it.

I just found out that the decision to can Black Industries was made after Dark Heresy sold out, and that it was made from the higher ups, not the people from BI itself. Is GW afraid of it outselling the mainstream stuff? What they need to do is make more RPG background books and less CS Goto novels.
