Default Arkurion Pattarn Super Heavy Tanks on FW

FW just put up pictures of three new super heavies, the Arkurion Pattarn Stormsword, Shadowsword, and Stormblade. Rules, I guess, are in IA:Apocalypse. They appear to be resign conversion kits for Gee-Dubs Baneblade, judging by the hull design and the price. Hmmmm...

Linky.

There's also some new Tau stuff for AI.

Yes, they're just conversion kits for people with no taste... I mean people who can't afford the real thing.

Still, we know what Forgeworld is responsible for that ugly Plastic Baneblade now.

They look, well, awful. Like unforgivably awful. I actually liked the design of the plastic Baneblade, but these things look far more at home on their original FW chassis. And those sponsons - they look terrible that far back. And the resin tops don't fit the style of the chassis at all. All I can say is that* I hope they still make the original ones.

Damn you Arkurion!

The Plastic Baneblade looks stupid if the sponsons are anywhere but at the back... how you can think different is beyond me. :-\

Stop this snobbery, people, before it starts to attract flames. They look good enough; perhaps not so good as the so-called 'real thing', but at least on par with the plastic BB hull, if not better.

You know, the plastic BB is modular. You can mount the sponsons as much forward as you want.

What pisses me off, though, is that you can't buy the upgrade pack separately.

I prefer them in the middle actually, but I agree that they would look even worse at the front. And I know they're modular - I just don't like the choice of sponson location on the models. And it's nice that they're making them vaguely affordable I guess - I just think that the tops don't look Gothic enough to go with the chassis, and the rivets are far bigger compared to the lower ones, which makes it look really odd. Nice idea, bad design.

Actually, I doubt there's any real savings at all.

Take the Shadowsword; the real Shadowsword is, what, 140?

The counterfiet is 85 + the Plastic Baneblade, and that's going to be around 50 at least... so 135.

Why the hell would you bother?

The Stormsword doesn't look quite right, and the Shadowsword targetors don't look as good at the 'real' ones - beyond that, they're fine vehicles and the top of the main weapon housing is actually better detailed on these Arkurion-Pattern tanks.

It's actually 85 for the whole thing, plastic and resin

And the bolts have always been bigger on the top bit, they were on the original ones.
