Default New Tau Codex?

I did a search and saw that no one has started a topic inquiring as to when a new tau codex is rumored to come out. I know that 5th ed core rules is rumored to come out this year or next and a bunch of new codexi are also coming out for various races. I was just wondering if anyone knew when/if the tau were to get a new codex. I don't imagine soon, but I am hopping for one soon anyway. :P

there has been nothing on any radar anywhere on the internet or... well there's nothing.

There's still the Dark Eldar, a slew of Space Marine chapters, that stoopid Daemon codex (blarg, blah, garf), Imperial guard, Tyranids and then we can imagine that in that darkness between hate and a wishbone someone is going to remember Medusa.

Okay- THEN Tau might be right after...

I don't really feel that we need a new codex. I mean, I wish we were BS 4 but that's the extent of it (and done for balancing purposes). We're probably the most balanced thing out there right now.

Dude the Tyranids were done ages ago.

I also don't hold alot of faith in this 5th Ed rumour. Sounds like BS to me...

My subtle diagram disagrees with you.
your "subtle" diagram contains Optimus Prime and Proffessor Farnsworth, it's heresy in it's own right!
Any similarities between your reality and mine are purely coincidental...

Tau codex is a long long way away..
And so is this 5th edition in my opinion, Why would they change a decent set off rules, my main argument is glancing hit and penetrating hit tables have always been the way they are, why change them? they work fine, if you don't like them, don't use tanks!

Technically thats only true since the release of 3rd Ed (the 2nd Ed vehicle damage system is COMPLETELY different, as is most of the game tbh). They did make a minor change to the damage table between 3rd and 4th (swapping the weapon destroyed and immobilised results around IIRC). But yeah bottom line, 4th Ed works. So why change it?

Tau probably won't be seeing a new codex for a few years. However, 5th edition rumors are building quite substantially, with Brimstone adding his input recently. He does not put out info that's isn't reliable, not once. So 5th edition early summer or at UKGD may be a reality. They have also been updating codices at the rate of 4 a year so Tau may get one in 2009 but if I had to guess it would be at the end of 2009 or more likely 2010. That's just a guess but I wouldn't expect one sooner.

Well because the developers want to move the game away from the terrible competitive tourney style metagame. There is a substantial push to bring the game back to it's roots. Namely first and foremost, a foray into the grim darkness of the 41st millennium... and then a game.

I am for it. There is a great deal of rules 'exploitation' in the competitive scene, and 5th could potentially do a nice job balancing things out. Too bad the developers' man crush for Iron Warriors was replaced by a cheesy love for Blood Angels.

But now On Topic...

I haven't seen anything, and if BoLS and Brimstone haven't caught so much as a whiff, I'd say Tau will have to wait a while. Oh well, I'm not too keen on seeing our armory removed anyways.
