Default Black topped foundations?

In WD 337 which features new sneak previews of next year there are black topped paint cans which have the same design as foundations
Anybody like to shine a light on this? ???

My initial suspicion was that they are moving the normal paint range to the foundation bottles to reduce the amount of paint you get with each pot (as they have done before) but the current standard pots and foundation pots hold the same 12ml.

Paint production is gradually being switched to a different company in China. So the foundation bottles and their horribly designed paint wasting lids* seem like they'll eventually become the standard. Another reason I want to switch to mostly Vallejo paint.

*What I'm referring to here is that lil scoop that protrudes down from the lid itself that has a nasty habit of scooping up paint and dumping it all over the rim of the pot.

Way I avoid that is when I open it to leave it leaning down a little for thirty seconds. Most of the excess paint scooped up tends to end up back in the pot and the rest ends up on my brush (I tend to pick up paint from that scoop first)

I'm a Vallejo man also, Fish Ead. I find it so much easier to squeeze measured amounts of paint out of a Vallejo bottle then to deal with paint pots.

Aren't they making some sort of "Foundation Ink" smoother better inks or something.

Fishy they briefly touched on it at Astro, then someone else started asking about if the whole paint range was switching pots.

The answer was "Probably, but not until all the paint that is currently already made is sold". That's a lot of paint to sell.

They won't just be changing the pots because it says in white dwarf...

sounds like a new type of paint to me or as Flastead said "a new type of ink"

True, that's why I said "gradually" . But you're right, it is going to be a pretty slow process so it's not like everyone should start saving up on the colours they like. Unless of course the colours you like are Brazen Brass, Midnight Blue, Fiery Orange, Bronzed Flesh, Tentacle Pink, Bad Moon Yellow, Terracotta or the ink line which rumour has it are the first ones getting replaced.
