New to miniature gamming. I'm a 33 year old who just finished school and decided to find a hobby now that studies aren't occupying my ever-waking moment. Been painting a couple of armies for a few months now (Chaos and Necron) and have started making some army list's. My question is, are Summoned Greater Daemons worth it in a CC oriented chaos list? I have reviewed quite a few lists on these boards and I really don't see many summoned greater daemons out there. I do see some list with lesser daemons. Are they generally more effective on the table? I just figured I would pick the brains of some players who actually have board experience and not just codex-line-crunchers like myself.

I think summoned greater daemons are great for the price.
I'm sure that some people are leery of them not being "fluffy" by having a more meaningful marking system. *shrugs* I like it the fewer MC's I have to face really.

I have used lesser Daemons in nearly all of my Chaos Space marine games. One big squad of around 14 buggers. You need big squads, or they wont do shit. I use them as a distraction and summoned from rhinos, they can get into combat very fast. I use them to hold up things I don't want my chaos marines in combat with, like scary characters and the like. I don't care if characters have power weapons, when I have 14 bodies with inv. saves happy as clams to hold 'em up for an entire game.
Against armies that are not MEQ, the daemons are pretty good shock troops. I've gotten some pretty sweet second turn charges agaisnt Tau, and many other armies which has totally ruined their days. They are flexible enough too, that they can be summoned in to help any part of the battle line. I give an icon of some sort to all my squads for this reason. I agree they are excellent for the price, and are scoring too, which can surprise some opponents.

Wow, I think of Summoned Daemons, I think of the lesser kind. Whoops, Much of what I said still stands for both though. The Greater Daemons are even better buy then the lessers. They are built like Rocks and can put out a world of hurt. great agaisnt assault armies, as they can get into combat without be shot at, most of the time.
MC are great, cheap MC even better. But, there is plenty of choice in Chaos marines, and not everything is for everyone. I frequently use possessed, and some people loathe them.
