Default Thoughts on a Fallen Angels army?

Hi everyone. One of my friends got me reading the dark angels fluff and i not liking good armies thought that a small fallen army would be fun to play. I was wondering if this was a total no no or if it would be cool.

I was also wondering what kinda background I should give them. (fluff) I'm thinking they'll be thinking that the current DA are still traitors (and that they are of course true servants of the emperor) except for their leader. Their leader is in fact gone all chaos and is manipulating the fallen to his and the dark gods agenda.

It isn't unheard of, although the Fallen don't normally congregate in large groups. They were scattered widely through time and space, and anything that might let them find each other could also lead the Dark Angels to them. It appears that there is a wide spectrum within the Fallen, with some of them being truly fallen to Chaos, and others just trying to make a new life for themselves where the Dark Angels won't find them.

cypher is the only one capable of bringing a large enough force of Fallen together to call it an army.

they have little access to vehicles and bikes.

It's possible, I did it for a little while.

As they do not get together in large numbers I use them as chosen it fits there backround quite nicley.

I was gonna make an army of like 20 of them around 500pts. I thought that was small considering roughly half the legion was lost in the warp. They'd have no vehicles or any thing. Just heavy weapons that the guys themselves could carry.

When it was still in common use, I had planned to use Codex: Eye of Terror's Lost and the Damned army list to represent a small group of Fallen, perhaps only a dozen or so, having taken control of an Imperial world and subverted its defenders into their personal army (using Chaos Space Marines as Fallen and Traitors as the subverted Imperial Guardsmen). It wouldn't have included Daemons, Obliterators, Daemonic Gifts that couldn't be explained away by Imperial wargear, or anything else of a Chaos bent; it was merely representing 'rebel' Fallen trying to survive in a galaxy they didn't understand as opposed to Chaos Fallen or anything of that ilk.

It would have been lead by 'Cypher', or rather an equivalent created using the old rules in the second Codex: Chaos Space Marines for a Chaos Lord. My theory at the time was the Cypher was merely an identity held by any member of the Fallen when it was required of them to do so (like an Eldar Phoenix Lord). This was, of course, before Cypher's role in the Horus Heresy novels was expanded upon.

I certainly wouldn't have included more than 15 Space Marines in the whole army, based on the background; the Fallen are scattered across both Space and Time and would rarely gather in numbers of more than a handful.

Never happened in time, sadly, but it was always something I wanted to do.

I have the same urge too... I've always wanted to make a full Dark Angel army and a small detachment for a Chaos force to be Fallen Angels (Lord and 2 Squads of Chosen) Alas this has yet to come to fruition... but it's something I've been toying with for a long time... Was thinking of having a Primarily Tzeentch/Thousand Suns Force with this Fallen Detachment.

But as has been pointed out an Actual force of Fallen would (fluffwise) never happen. They are scattered through out time and space... Gamewise though it would be freaking cool! Having a Dark Angel Force against a Fallen Angel Force...

Now them being scattered through time and space does raise a question... what if some went back in time? that would mean that a Dark Angel could of been responsible for all sorts of events prior to the Empire to coming to power... It also means that the task of the Dark Angels is an impossible task due to the ones that would of gone to a time prior to the age of the Emperor would be long dead...

What if i made a kill team of fallen? I think that would fit in the fluff and it would mean I'd only have like 10 at most.

I think that a Kill-team of Fallen would go better with their fluff, instead of a full force that is.
