Default Combi-melta or combi-flamer

OK, I just got a box of terminators and I am so far undecided for which combi-weapon to use although I will have one
The unit will have 5 terminators, 1 powerfist, 1 chainfist, 1 heavy flamer and it will accompany a terminator lord with combi-melta

The question is, do I get another combi-melta for this unit or another template weapon?
I am leaning slightly towards the combi-melta but I will wait to see what everyone has to say

BTW, I am only leaving this poll open for a day as I don't want to wait too long or have people voting after it is all glued

Thanks in advance
Cammerz

What armies do you normally fight? How is your army made up?

The very simple basic list is along the lines of;
termy lord and termy bodyguards
1 csm unit with 2 meltas and 1 with 2 plasmas
1 plague unit with 2 flamers
2 smallish daemon units
1 biker unit (which has 1 flamer)
3 obliterators
2 defilers

Well, you seem to have horde control covered so melta's would be good.

I'd take the flamer, it's a lot more handy not to be able to miss (just place the template) and it your going to end up stuck in with a ginormous squad (like a 50 guardsmen tarpit unit) it helps to deal a little extra damage.

Also your powerfist and chainfist can kill vehicles, as well as your oblits.

To get the most bang for your buck I would take the flamer, you need to only hit six marines to kill one, maybe more if your opponent can't roll, wereas your melta can only kill one (if you hit)

In the end it's up to you.

Hope this helps, Typhon, lord of the zombie plague

I wouldn't get more flamers then two combi-flamers and a heavy flamer. Wont be able to fire them all with the deep-strike formation. And if your not deepstriking them, why the hell not? For the rest of the squad a couple of melta-combis will add some insurance and flexibility.

Well, I am late in responding, but at least something else to consider. They should ALL have combi-weapons though, so cheap and so good. Besides the heavy flamer, and maybe a champ or mook with a pair of lighting claws.

I normally take combi-meltas, as I play against armies which field many tough tanks, such as the Space marine LR. Of course if you play against hordes of IG with many foot soldiers go for Flamers.

Personally I think they are a waste of points, it just makes a already expensive unit more expensive. I take 2 units of 5 khornate terminators all with powerfists and with 1 champion and 1 Reaper Autocannon. Why not spend the points on a Reaper autocannons

Heavy flamers are way better for the points cost in my opinion. Also combi-meltas/flamers can be decents as you can deep strike down next to enemy tanks and use the close range melta bonus, or get up close with a horde or a unit which depends on cover and fry them.
