The Nurgle Daemon Prince comes on a 60mm base while the normal Daemon prince comes on a termie base. Why is this? My Khorne Daemon Prince looks to big on the termie base so I put him on a dread base. At any rate, in a tourny do you think people would care? Or should I revert back to the original base despite how stupid it looks?

All of the Nurgle Daemon Princes that have come into our store (4) have been on 40mm bases...we just rebased them to 60's.
I think that at a tournament, with 5th edition rules, you may get some flack about 60mm bases. But, honestly, you shouldn't because a) it looks a lot better and b) it is actually a disadvantage to you as a player. I wouldn't worry about it. If you really are concerned about it, rebase the model so that your 40mm base fits inside of a 60mm scenic base and pull it out if someone makes it an issue. |

I had exactly the same problem. I first of all thought that i was given the wrong base size and checked it in the Codex. In there it is 60mm, so I used a AoBR base. It looks SO much better, and I havent got any complaints about it. I dont really know what tournies would be like though...

Don't sweat it, there's nothing wrong about mounting models on larger bases, I believe the rulebook even says it's okay to make larger scenic bases for some characters or use bigger bases for support. Using the 60mm base is logical, encouraged by the rulebook, and doesn't confer any innate advantage (there are drawbacks too it in gameplay as well, though they're negligible). I can't see anyone giving you a hard time

the rules (our house rules) on bases has always been :
(1) USE as it was packaged. old termies on old 20mms, new termies on their 40mms. (2) you can upgrade 1 size for aesthetic or other reasons for non-troops choices but not downgrade for any reason. so you can mount old termies in the new 40mms. use the old CSM sorceror from 20mms to 40mms, etc.
