Default Using the same models for both 40K and WHF - Daemons...

I've been kicking around the idea of doing a Daemon army, because about 90% of the models would work for both systems... I was just wondering about basing the models - most of the models would require square bases for WHF, but Round is the norm in 40K.... what's the best way around this? Just make some sort of plug on the round base that would allow you to mount a square based model on it?

magnets. Or for the metal models allow the model to be taken off the base and ut on another using the slot tag. You could get really fancy and try making a round base with a space for a square base to fit... but that would require ALOT of effort.

Or, and this is a really ground breaking idea.........

just use squares......

seriously, GW knew that buy making a daemon's army in both 40K and fantasy, useing the same models people will use them in both systems, and that helps promote both games. If you are dead set on circles, make up some movement trays for fantasy (you'll need them anyways) but fill the gaps ther circle bases leave to prevent your daemons from sliding around....

They do technically come with the unit...And are technically the official bases.

Is there anything in the WH40K book saying you need to use the round bases that are provided for 40K matches?

You could have the round bases mounted on top of the squares. Magnets. Make the square bases with a mound up to edge of the round ones so it won't look like crap.

It would have to be the square on the round. As the round are bigger than the square if you did that.

I thought GW did have a rule on using square in 40k? I know you cannot use round in fantasy due to the rules requiring square.

Oh. I thought that the circles would be smaller. Circles are for the most part a smaller shape than squares.

The bigger of the two small square bases i think might be slightly bigger than the round ones. But the smaller of the two are smaller than the round ones.

I know alot of people use these. It's a bit easier than magnets, although maybe a little more expensive.

That looks like a realy good solution. It good be pretty snazzy to if you made it look like the bases.
