Default Bat Rep - New Deamons versus Deamon Hunters

This was an apoc game but of only about 2000pts a side. (i can't remember war gear exactly and no pics)

Deamons
Soul Grinder
2 Deamon princes
3 units of deamonettes
mask
Herald of khorn
2 fiends
1 unit of blood letters
1 blood thirster
Everything has Warrior eternal special rule
DH
2 full plattoons of IG with auto cannons
2 Leman russes with battle cannons
3 inquisitors with Sactury
1 inquisitor lord with sanctuary and telport homer
8 Grey knight terminators
5 grey knights
Vindicare assasin
3 commissars

Turn one,
DH got it, Sanctuary cast on two inquistor leaving one weak spot in the DH line

Deamons- 2 deamon princes turn up and bloodthirster plus 2 units of deamonettes

Turn 2 Leamn russes smash the deamonette squads to peices leaving none
alive.
Plattons concntrate on one deamon prince and kill it.

Deamons - Mask turns up, along with 2 feinds and sould grinder.

Soul grinder scatters onto a guards man and is killed.
deamon prince charges platton and kills 5 men. Platton standsstill.

Turn 3

Sanctuary cast on third inquisitor
Grey knights all turn up around using the teli homer.
Leman russ's take pot shots at the bloodthirster and wound it twice.
plattoons open up on the mask and feinds killing mask and 1 feind.

Blood letters arive partially behind a rock. blood thirster chews through a command squad and massacres into platton.

Turn 4
Leman russ 1 blows the blood letters out of the sky none left. (by now thinking im getting very lucky with scatter dice)

Deamon prince strays into the Sanctuary and takes a wound (or somthing like that) and then dies.

Mask charges and is killed in combat. The last feind runs away (player had to leave)

Result. Massacre for the Deamon Hunters

Thoughts. The deamons where a very scary army, if it was not for the sanctuary and commissars i doubt we would of lasted very long at all.
However the deepstrike rule for deamons is a very big downer, as you read, the leman russes blew the deamon away. excelant choice would deffinatly watch out for them.

Overall. Deamons are very good, they just need to be used right.[/s]

Im glad they are almost balanced against each other (DH and Daemons etc)

yeah, it was actually a really good game actually, i thouroughly enjoyed it.

Please Read Page 12 under the Sanctuary Power.

If you use the Pavane or the LoS from the Chaos Codex and are successful on the model that casts Sanctuary, the power -does not work- because that model -has been moved- by the Pavane/LoS power.

The Daemon Hunter Codex needs serious re-visioning to be competitive to the newer codexs.

Yea but anybody who tries that needs to be dreadsocked, when the Daemonhunters codex was published nothing like LoS existed and thus the wording wasn't a problem.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, Grey Knights are shafted without a codex update. Many of their strengths and specialities are screwed over while their opponents recieve a shocking boost.

By the way warriorchris did your opponent know that since you had Grey Knights on the field his Daemon units and daemon packs would have been able to return from his table edge after being destroyed as they recieve the sustained assault special rule due to the presense of the Grey Knights?

That might have swung the battle drastically as I wonder if your Lemans would have been able to continue to destroy the daemons as efficiently and the Soul Grinder scattering is some insanely good luck on your part. A nice report, too bad it's not longer.

yeah, they knew that and it was a drastic change in the battle in terms of player moral, but they were just to far away from the objectives to make much of a difference. Shame really. It could have really made an intresting ending.
