Default Last stand

I have been seriously giving thought to selling my Iron warriors army that I started collecting and painting scince 93, in order to fund the return of my beloved Eldar.

I am rather loth to totally give them up however, because I will recieve much less than I payed for them.

Basically, I am looking for tips to make a competitive list with the units I have and was wondering if anyone has any tactical advice and/or experience with the new codex changes (I have been a bit busy, and have not had time to really playtest the new dex changes).

I am not totally against buying a new unit or two in order to balance my force, and will probly sell everything I don't need.

Here is what I have:

Hq:

a Deamon prince, A termie Lord (have him set up to be a possible abaddon proxy), a power armoured Lord, & two biker lords.

Elites:

3 Dreads: one missile/Las, one forgeworld Plasma/ccw, and one pure assault dread.

Elites/troops/heavy:

50+ marine bodies, lots of plasma, 5 lascannons, 5 missile, a few scattered melta/flamer/heavy bolters, some powerfists, and a few geared as Asp Champs.

Fast attack:

ONE spawn

Heavy support:

A forgeworld Vindi, Defiler, one oblit, a predator.

oh and 40+ deamonettes that can be used as lesser deamons

I like to have a 2000 pt list, but as tourneys usually run at 1750 have a seperate list also.

Any ideas to ressurect this force enough to make it tourney worthy, or should I just scrap it.

EDIT: forgot I have a Rhino, and a Bassie I was thinking about proxying for a Vindicator

Well, you have lots of core marines and lots of plasma.........so use them as chosen with maxed plasma weapons (i think they can take four or five, can't remember specifics). Give them an icon per squad to call down the daemonettes. So, that's your three elites.

Dreadnoughts are too inpredictable for tournament play.

Give the prince wings and some nasty psychic powers (eg slaanesh power 'lash&#39.

Fill out the heavies with the vindicator, predator and defiler. Hopefully the disruption of the infiltrating chosen will mean the defiler attracts less fire.

Troops - 6 man squads with lascannons.

If the defiler is too likely to be shot, then invest in havocs with autocannons.

See what you can build from that, hope it helped.

You cannot take a heavy weapon without having 10 men in the squad, so this MAY be 6 10x squads with lascannon...

Cheers wired, thats a good point. Always confusing chaos with space marines (codex).

So, in the regard, have ten man squads with lascannon and plasma. Two such squads should enable you to cover most of the board and give enemy tanks something to think about.

Drop one of the troops squad in favour of a lesser daemon squad.

Give the troops squad with the rhino 2 meltaguns and a powerfist.

With the points saved from getting the lesser daemons, bump up the number of chosen. They need to whether alot of punishment. As it stands you'll be losing a plasma marine as your second casualty. If you feel really harsh then give them the mark of nurgle.

Lash seems like a strong power, but a prince is built for combat, warptime is better for that. Tzeentch is good for a prince (gives your a 4+ invun) I6 is great but usually it doesn't matter (I play slaan so :-\)

Don't discount your close combat dread though, it's still good (although it may bolter you're own guys)
