I currently play tau and am looking to build a 2nd army, but I dont know anything about chaos. I like how they have the psycher aspect that tau lack as well as the assualty ascpet.
However is there any difference between the three gods? -IS one "better?" -DO you have to choose one and if so are there special units, ex. can only a khorne army use khorne berzerkers? thanks MAG. |

First off welcome to chaos i hope you enjoy your stay.

and for the special units of each god you really don't need to play a single god as you could play using all the special units. E.G. thousand sons fighting next to khorne berzerkers fighting next to slaanesh noise marines fighting next to nurgle plague marines. it really goes against all the fluff and I would avoid it at all costs to put more than two of them together but their is no restriction on the chaos army list. Chaos are really unique as they have the best psychic power of all which is the lash of submission(personal preference) which can allow a lot of tactics such as lashing squads into the path of a battle cannon for shootier army's or drawing the enemy close to elite assault units (khorne berzerkers,Termies,Dreadnoughts) for assault orientated armies. ,have the second best siege abilities next to imperial guard(defiler and vindicator = battle cannon and demolisher cannon) ,have some really powerful assault units(terminator champions all with pairs of lightning claws with icon of khorne pumps out 6 lightning claw attacks on the charge) can also be mechanized and have their specialty units(which i have never actually seen anyone use) the daemons. In total Chaos can be customized to fill whatever roll you need and provide a wealth of conversion opportunities(turn space marines evil > , spawn can be modeled out of just about anything and buying space marine vehicles and throwing spikes on them makes them chaos vehicles ;D)

Khorne is best at assault. Tzeentch is very good for psychicness. Slaanesh is, i dont actually know, perverted? Nurgle is very durable. |

khorne is the dominant god, but only since he take advantage of one of the most common in the human nature, rage and anger, by committing revenge and other types of cruel murders you open your soul to khorne, the blood god, hes warriors fight in a maniac frenzy which makes them excellent in close combat and assaults. they always try to find new opponents to fight and may turn up against each other if there are none other(this is not a rule which counts in battles since they already have enemy's, unless you are using khârne which have a chance to hit his own side). The rivaling god to khorne is slaneesh since it is the god of love and luxury, where khorne is ruthless and slays their enemy's in cruel way, slaneesh just ends their enemy's life with a simple swing with their blades. thats the background for khorne, the other gods you must ask someone else about :P. however when it comes to tactic for khorne its basically coming in close combat, however you can include all followers of diffrent gods in one army with the new codex or simply add a mark of one god to gain their abilities and weaponry, so chaos is full of opinions. and i hope you find your interest in them!

Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone clearly answered your second question. The answer is no. You don't have to pick any one cult. The so-called cult marines (Berzerkers, Plague Marines, Thousand Sons, Noise Marines) now all count as troop selections and you can choose whatever combination you like. |
