LATD Nurgle noob needs help

Default LATD Nurgle noob needs help

Well, I just bought a LATD force off of a friend, it has about 60 infantry models (not sure what the traitor to mutant ratio is) 3 Converted Imperial tanks, I think one might be a pread but I'm not sure, I know at least one is a russ, and about 12 deathguard. I won't be taking possesion of it until September so a precise model count won't be avalible till then, but I'm interested to get some general info on how LATD plays, good methods for painting them, what types of tactics to use, and such not.

Here is my nurgle list in a nutshell......


HQ: I use an asp champ with D strength and a MR (not sure on the legality of that now :P), but i'll keep using that. Keep in a mutant squad.

Elites: I dont use any.... but you have those PMs..... again somebody needs to make a new LatD codex. They'll be fine if you use old rules. Let them infiltrate and use plasmas. Go character hunting.

Troops: Well there are 2 big ones let me give you my 2 cents

Traitors: Small squads work, I give them a lassie or heavy weapon of choice and sniper combo, hide them and let them blast away. Keep them far away and safe from CC.

Mutants: Big burly squads. Now fluff will tell you bloated, but burly mutant stats = ORKS!!!!!! I use 1 massive squad of 30-50 in 1000pts and 1-2 squads of traitors. Be sure to have that asp champ in there for the morale boost.

Fast: I use alot of fast attack. Rough Riders with meltas provide a unique and colorful anti tank option and large squads of hounds are perfect for flanking.

Heavy: I use a bassie and spawns. The spawns foot slogg with the mutants and provide some harder hitting CC and the bassie lays down fire. Use those lemons instead. They'll do what the bassie does but with a wee bit more accuracy. Try to include at least 1, don't sweat the other one if you can't afford it. Your hoardes are more important

*One last note. for the mutants also try to include a mutie champ with the (draw a blank on the name.....) PEQ weapon. Its vital and dont worry about weapons in the muties their BS sucks and leave that kind of dirty work to the traitors.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking that I would use my tanks and Tratiors for fire support and have the mutants advance to close combat. I was also considering a hell hound for some nice horde killing, any advice on those?

Could be useful i'd wait till bigger games, lost my guard dex and im drawing a blank on the stats....

Yeah, I'd like to stay away from roughriders since I'll have so many in my Praetorian army. Sentinels or hellhounds are both attractive options though

Sentinels are a viable option, just give those puppies some meltas and were rocking.

yeah, also, can someone tell me what size base Big mutants, Chaos spawn and chaos hounds should be on? As I'll be modeling somemore of my own shortly.

mutants normal, spawn same as a termi an hounds use the cavalry base im pretty sure
