Default i is got me a tank

Hey,
Having played 40k for a while now, and coming back from a "lets put down 40k and online game" stage, i have discovered a completely unassembled preddator in my wardrobe gathering dust, it is now completely assembled apart from arments (oh joy ). And this is where you come in:

From personal experience, which predator configuraion did you like? why are the pros pro and the cons well... Cons? or should i just wait for the new codex rather than consult my old one (with a duct tape binding mind you)

Mind you, i play an IW army, with, as heavy support choices, a basilisk and a defiler. ;D

Thanks guys, it's appreciated. The whole pred thing has me wondering.

I wish every morning was like that for me. I'd certainly be a lot more motivated to get out of bed.

Pesonally, as a death guard player, i'm partial to the autocannon top, and the lascannon sponsons. enough tankbusting power, but if need be, can decimate a small squad of elite infantry quite easily.

My friend once got an extra pred on mail order, he gave it to me. Im saving it for a rainy day, though its looking like it may be my new converted plague vindicator.

Well what does your army look like? The tri-las is perfect for serious anti tank if thats what you need. The autocannon/las sponson is a great balanced choice as well. Id go for M hull and some extra armor on top of the weapons set up.

I'd second the Tri-las Pred, as your current Heavies are both "plate-throwers" who might have trouble with accuracy. And you might need that accuracy (And 3 LC shots) versus assorted nasties like Wraithlords, rival Daemon Princes, Broadsides (Killed an entire squad in one turn once with a loyalist Tri-LC) and Leman Russes/Land-raiders...

Just my two cents as a former Warsmith

I feel your pain as an IW player for when the new 'dex comes out. I also suggest the las setup simply because it boasts impressive fire power as well as a satisfactory number of shots that leave room for the occasional bad roll.

Chrissi3,

Excellent, can't have too many preds... > Personally I favor a "mixed" Predator that I call the "Devestator" Variant.

Configuration "Predator Devestator" (Predator Main Battle Tank, Twin Lascannon Turret, Heavy Bolter Sponsons, Daemonic Possession, Dozer Blade)

This bad boy can fire all weapons while moving through cover to benifit from "hull down", and nothing short of death stops it from moving and firing. If you have the extra points for a Havoc Launcher, this is also highly reccomended. If pressed for points you can downgrade from Daemonic Possession ot Extra Armor.
The accuracy of the Twin-Las (Over 88%) makes it a fine tank destroyer, while the hail of fire from it's side sponsons make it effective against infantry. This is a good, all-around tank that is extremely flexible for it's battlefield role.

Hope that helps,
Ged
