Default another different Iron Warriors army list.

Well heres another list i came up with, it was really a mix of me wanting to see if 4 predators would be effective, with can iron warriors do Close combat? so here it is comment and critique!

Heya,

I.W. do fine in assault. I run a relatively assault heavy I.W. list, but the melee is more reactive than proactive. I don't force melee on people unless it's better (like against big-bugs). For the HQ, a bike Lord is better--faster, better survivability, and the ability to get up to a 2+ invulnerable save so that you can get up in their face first turn, take all the punishment they can dish out, and then beat on them with a power fist with loads of attacks. The Troops are what it's all about--lots of 8 man squads with double plasma, champ with a power fist. You can infiltrate them so that you have the option to just sit and shoot them point blank over and over, or if they come closer, you've got assault power with those buried power fists. Behind them, Predators unloading vicious firepower.

In your list, I would re-do the Lord and Chosen--major point sinks for very little actual good use (all those guns are for nothing if you're in assault, by the way; it's best that squads can do both shooting and assault, so that they're always useful and not losing turns of sitting around).

(Turboboost, 2+ invulnerable save with 4 wounds behind it. If you feel like you may fail against something S8+, take the D. Rune.)

(Good scoring oblits, extra lascannon or heavy bolter as you need it, with deep strike ability for twin-linked melta action on hidden tanks.)

(Plenty of boom boom. You could go to twinlinked lascannon turrets, but they're expensive for one gun, while the autocannon is still very useful and good for infantry too, and vastly cheaper allowing more options elsewhere while still getting lots of A14 with lascannon action.)

i was trying to stay away from using obliterators... but they are usually a good idea so i will change that.

so why the plasma gun over the plasma pistol? i can see why because you get the extra shot, but i had planned on them just going into assault

Because when plans change, having two shots each is better than one. Also, because if you chose to stand still to zonk a tank or skimmer or something you have a 24" reach, where as if you moved it would be reduced to 12" after a 6" move (18") which may not have been enough range to catch that vehicle. The pistol is ok, but I'd rather burn two models with AP2 death rather than slug it out with just one more attack that doesn't ignore a save. More death faster = plasma. In melee, your power fist champ will do the rest.
