Default 1000pts Night Lords ~ Getting Started

Heya,

I'm sure all concerned will find the below of some use:

Troop 2:
Chaos Space Marine Squad Total: 110pts
- 1 x Chaos Marine - Autocannon.

Raptor Squad Total: 313pts
- 1 x Aspiring Champion - Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Daemonic Mutation.
- 7 x Raptors - Bolt Pistols, Close Combat Weapons.

Geez man, how many armies are you starting anyway?

-I'd reccomend a Dark Blade over a Powerfist, as you will strike last with the fist, and your lord can be picked out in CC; the CC weapon is redundant as you may only wield a single weapon from the bike, (look under the rules for chaos bikers, the spikes on the bike make up for the loss anyway. ) and the cost would be better payed for Frag Grenades to help defeat cover.
-You have invested a lot of points in defensive upgrades: Rune, Essence, et all. The D. Rune is seldom worth it's points; which can be better spent elsewhere in the army. But then again YMMV.

-Now I don't have my 'Dex with me; but what are these guys doing for you that a similarly configured Havoc Squad wouldn't do for cheaper? By my estimation you are paying way too much for this unit.

-The raptors seem a tad underarmed, you could add 2 flamers and upgrade your AC to a powerfist for what you'd save from transfering your firepower squad from elite (chosen) to heavy support (Havoc) though...

Overall the list feels more like Iron Warriors than Night Lords; but don't let that stop you. The Oblits should provide all of the heavy duty anti-armor that you need, and the autocannons will provide the rest. Your lord and your raptors give good mobile counter-assault. This list should perform just fine.

I'm just experimenting... :

I think I might drop this army. I'll see what I can do with the Witch Hunters.
