What are the benefits of having a squad size of the God's favored number?
If you can't quote rules could you give me a page from the codex? Thanks.

Well for any of the gods, if you follow their sacred number, you get to have a free champ. Thats the benefit. Also it is fluffier to have squads following the sacred numbers.
In most cases, it is better to follow these numbers, but sometimes its not. Really depends on the list and the god that you have chosen. Tzeentch for example, arent always great to field solely by the sacred numbers. |

This is a question that should have been asked in the Rules FAQ that you'll see stickied above. However, here's the simple answer as you requested. 1 - The rules for Favored Units are found on page 38. Favored Units, on their own, are meaningless. You get no benefit. It's a generic rule that let's you know that a certain number or variable of that number represents which numbers are "sacred" for each Cult army's god. For example, Khorne is "8" and therefore any unit marked Khorne with 8 models in it, or a multiple of 8 (8, 16, 24, etc) will be considered "favored." This doesn't mean anything though. This merely let's you know for the next part: 2 - If you play a pure cult army, which is described in each God's entry (khorne, nurgle, slaneesh & tzeentch) you will find that if you follow the rules of the pure force, then "favored units" get a free aspiring champion upgrade. Note--this is only if you play the army in it's pure form as described there. Without playing pure, you do not receive the benefit. Your squad is still considered favored; but it only has any real game effect if you play a pure force. Example: Undivided army with several different marks and some obliterators includes a unit of Plague Marines (mark of nurgle) and the squad size is 7. They are considered "favored." However, they receive zero benefit because the army is not pure. A Nurgle army with nothing but the mark of nurgle and units which take the mark of nurgle has several units of Plague Marines, all with squad sizes of 7. Each squad is considered favored due to that. And because it's a pure force, they receive a bonus--which is a free aspiring champion upgrade to each favored squad. ~ --- ~ So, everything you need: 1 - Page 38: Favored Units; (this will show how to make a squad favored) 2 - Page 48; Khorne; "Playing a World Eater's Army" (read to see the bonus to favored units) 2 - Page 52; Nurgle; "Playing a Death Guard" (read to see the bonus to favored units) 2 - Page 56; Slaneesh; "Playing an Emperor's Children Army" (read to see the bonus to favored units) 2 - Page 61; Tzeentch; "Playing a Thousand Sons Army" (read to see the bonus to favored units) Cheers!

Daemons of that cult which are favoured also gain a +1 roll for their reserves for being summoned too.
