I have started collecting chaos models for a lost and the damned army, and would like to know how this list looks so far:

HQ

1 group of 6 chaos space marines- 109pts.

-plasma gun

4 groups of 10 traitors- 400pts.
-heavy stubber
-heavy bolter

FAST ATTACK:

1 group of 10 kroot vulture kindred- 141pts.

1 hellhound- 115pts.

HEAVY SUPPORT: (some of the values may be a little off, as I have lost my Imperial guard Codex)

2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks- 340pts.
-hull mounted Lascannon
-Heavy Bolter Side Sponsons

1 Leman Russ Demolisher-165pts.
-hull mounted heavy bolters & side sponson heavy bolters

TOTAL: 1830pts.

Hey man,

Hate to break it to you, but this list is illegal. Doesn't work like this at all. I'll go through it bit by bit regardless, but then point out the big problem last:

~ Soft & Easy ~

HQ1 - All this stature and rawness, but a big armor save which won't be that useful and zero invulnerable save. I'd drop armor for aura in a heart beat here. He's not going to be damaged much by anything less than a lascannon anyways. T6 remember! Not much hurts that easily (wound you on 6's? easily avoided).

HQ2 - Good actually.

Elite1 - Not bad; but too many eggs in one basket for the Damned. I would drop down to 2x Oblits; but otherwise, it's fine.

~ The Big Problem ~

You don't even have compulsory here. The lost and the damned require you to have TWO troop selections from the Damned (ie: Mutants or Traitors) before you may take allied chaos marines. Traitors taken as compulsory must be maximum size (ie: 15). Your squads are 10. So, you don't have compulsory here, which means, no way you can ally any of the chaos allies.

1 group of 6 chaos space marines- 104pts.

These are good; once you get compulsory.

4 groups of 10 traitors- 400pts.
-heavy stubber
-heavy bolter

They're solid. But again, 2 of them need to be maxed so that they can fill compulsory. Otherwise, no show.

1 group of 10 kroot vulture kindred- 141pts.

Interesting! Good choice really; but, you still need compulsory or this isn't legal.

1 hellhound- 115pts.

Good!

2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks- 340pts.

-Heavy Bolter Side Sponsons

Looks decent; though I'd go for heavy bolters on the hull too.

We cannot take Demolishers in the Damned, and this doesn't look like a Demolisher anyways. Anyhow, it's Russes or Basilisks & Defilers. No Demolishers in our lists unfortunately.

--- Just fix compulsory. Consider getting some mobility (as you lack it nearly completely).

thanks for the advice, I didn't know that compulsory meant that the squad had to be full sized. also, for the last heavy support option, would another leman russ work out well?

In all armies, in standard missions - you must have compulsory. That is, 1 HQ and 2 Troops from your parent codex list (in our case, mutants & traitors). Traitors taken as compulsory, specifically state in our rules on the first page of the Damned rules, that they must be maximum squad size for compulsory. All other traitors can be whatever size you prefer. So you must buy compulsory legally before you can take allied Troops (as they can only be taken if you have met compulsory). So two of your traitor teams must have 15 models while the rest can be whatever you like.

Another Leman Russ would work fine.
