my iron warriors army consists of the following

20 marines
3 w/ plasma gun
1 w/power fist+plasma pistol


5 possesed
w/daemonic talons

2 rhinos
1w/havoc launcher
2 pintle mounted combi bolters

obliterator cult
there isnt much to put down here

1baslisk
w/ standard heavy bolter and pintle combi bolter

1 defiler
mutated vehiclew/ autocannon and battle cannon

and last but not least my hq.i have 3 models,the standard hq sold at gw(combi melta powerfist ectect) the iron warriors warsmith(combi melta, servo arm) or a termie w powerfist and combi bolter


im not sure what to add but i was hoping you could tell me. anything im lacking or need to add, tell me(i can fix this due to a genorous donation for easter(thanks gran))

Hey man,

It really depends upon you. What direction do you want to go with the army?

From first view:

1 - You lack anti-tank.
2 - You actually have very few marines.
3 - Most of your points are locked in easily destroyed one-model-units and vehicles.
4 - Your HQ is slow and going to be expensive for little effect in-game.
5 - You actually have very little real fire power. No dakka, no big guns. Just two tanks and an Oblit.

Things you can do about it:

A - Buy two more boxes of marines. You will get some heavy bolters and more plasma this way.
B - Pick up a Predator; equip it with an autocannon, heavy bolters and a havoc launcher. Dakka time.
C - Buy or convert something that can be used for speed for your HQ: (Examples).
D - Get another Obliterator(s). You can easily make two squads of two obliterators (optimal).
C - Buy a few lascannon models and field them in troops with tank hunters (or autocannons).
E - Convert your basilisk to be a Leman Russ or Vindicator perhaps; Bassies aren't really worth it.

The idea is to build up more fire power. You have a lot of room for heavy bolters, autocannons and lascannons and they're not there, so your firepower is just a few big shots and very few bolters. Normally that's what a combat army has. But this army isn't really geared for combat either; so I'd start getting some guns.

Chaos Lt. with a Kai Gun and Flight or Speed would make a good IW HQ.

Other than that I also see a general lack of heavy weapons, a few small CSM squads with heavy weapons would remedy that. missiles and Lascannon come to mind, some Heavy Bolters wouldnt hurt either.

Plus up your Possessed squad to about 8 or more and you will have a good killy unit for close assault. maybe use one of your rhinos to transport them. smoke launchers are a good upgrade for this.

Crank your obliterators up to a full cult of 3, or like MalVeauX advised, two cults of 2 for splitting their fire. taking good advantage of the Iron warriors lifted restrictions.

the Basilisk and Defiler look good as they are, multiple artillery weapons will provide superior infantry killing power.

And lastly I would also advise getting a Predator. How you arm it though should depend on what you end up putting in the rest of your army. If you have plenty of big guns arm it with Autocannon and HBolters. If you lack anti-tank power then Las sponsons or a Lascannon turret are advised. either way I highly reccoment Daemonic Possession to keep it from getting shaken or stunned.

Your army looks like a good start towards a healthy 2k'ish list. It just needs some guns and some meat to fill it out.

thanks for the advice, i got a predator and it is now sitting infront of me with an autocannon and heavy bolters. still working on it and hopefully getting some more oblits soon
