Alright you guys, I was bored as hell right now and thinking about what I should put into my army when I upgrade my 1000pts to 1500pts.

I had been wondering if you could use a Chaos spawn as a follower for a lord to any effect but no not really. Then I started reading about our chosen, I had never been a big fan but I noticed that the aspiring champion can be upgraded to a sorcerer "wait isn´t doombolt AP3?! ...nope AP4 dang!" then I was reading about "gift of chaos"...

It felt like having a bad cold and then getting punched in the nose

"So I could field a infiltrating close combat unit with an aspiring champion sorcerer that can cast gift of chaos even while in close combat and even if I don´t have an enemy to transform I can try to morph one of my own troopers, giving him a +1T, +1S and +1or more attacks 60% of the time"

Besides mass producing spawns this gives me like a 40% chance (versus T4 such as SM) to kill a model wothout allowing a save. It´s an extra automatic hit S3 attack with no saves so to speak.

Your thoughts on the subject? Is this worth it? is there something I´m missing? Am I starting to think like a power gamer?

Hey man,

The gift of chaos is probably one of the more useful psychic powers that we have. It's useful in many respects already. I would note however, that morphing one of your own isn't always a sound option. You should always be pointing it at an enemy regardless.

Anyhow, it works. It works quite well. It can also morph multi-wound creatures and characters, mostly on a 6 of course, but hey, small chance for a massive pay out eh?

This isn't power gaming by the way - power gaming would be if you purchased a squad of chosen, upgraded them all to flyers, and then gave each one the mark of tzeentch and the gift of chaos power. That would be power gaming.

Holy smokes! I was wondering like "maybe I should get like a 20 man ...nah, that´s too much, a 10 man squad maybe throw in a couple of meltas for tank killing. Should I give the asp.champ a power fist?" Then I started to wonder if it really belonged in my army fluff-wise or if I was just becoming a power gamer.

Thank you for demonstrating to me what power gaming is all about ;D Looks like I´m alright after all. Since I´m going to be using a Red corsairs army I thought about modelling a small tyranid looking pet on that asp. champion too make it look like he has a similar pet as Huron Blackheart too keep it in fluff
