“Waaagh!” The battle-cry filled Gai’s ears as the Ork horde charged towards the trenches. All around him, the drone of multilasers, the loud cracks of auto-cannons and the booms of mortars dealt death to the enemy.
“Get ready!” his Sergeant yelled at the top of his lungs. Gai grabbed his lasgun, and prepared to jump.
“Charge!” Gai leapt up the trench as the order was yelled down the line and hundreds of guardsmen left the safety of the trenches. Immediately, three guardsmen went down is a mess of blood and bullets. A couple of metres to his left, a stray rocket detonated against the rocky ground, sending men and Orks flying everywhere. Suddenly, the two armies met, and all hell broke loose.
Orks swung choppas at the guardsmen, killing them instantly, only to be shot a second later. Sentinels walked up into the melee, flamers burning through flesh and metal, before being brought down by multitudes of Orks, or destroyed by makeshift bombs.
It was in this hell that Gai barely managed to survive. He pressed down on his lasguns trigger, sending laser blasts everywhere. Two Orks dropped dead in front of him, but another three replaced them.
Suddenly, a massive explosion erupted in front of him. Pieces of rock flew everywhere, hitting guardsmen and Orks alike. Gai slowly rose to his feet, before realising he’d lost his lasgun.
“Ha ha ha,” said a voice nearby. “Little humies lost his gun. Well, lets see how well he flies.” With that, an Ork nob walked up to Gai, and grabbed him by the throat, lifting him in the air. Choking, he looked dwon and saw that his feet were three feet off the ground.
“You don’t like dat do ya,” said the massive Ork. “Well, now you can go join the bir-“ He was cut off as bolter rounds cut through his back, sending his remains flying. As Gai fell to the ground, he looked up, and saw five huge, armoured figures, weilding power swords and huge guns that looked like they belonged on tanks. And at that, Gai blacked out.
