A lone man walked to the top of a mountain once, not caring for his life,
he carried near nothing with him, save his mortal strife. The man went boldly, to the mountain top, Not until he got there did he consider stop. The Mountain was foretold, in scripts of ancient past, to help poor mortals with their problems, was its' eternal task. When he reached the mountain top, he sadly looked back down, seeing the destruction of his former childhood town. "Why?" asked he, "Why do I suffer so? Tell me spirit of the mountain, for I must know. I have served Emperor for all my nights and days, I have prayed to him and him alone, and followed all sacred ways. I now stand before you mountain, of age, beauty and hope, to tell for me, my destiny, and my life within its' scope. Answer me, Immortal see, for my life will soon end, What have I ever done to deserve the torture, that will surely, my life, transend? My wife was killed, house was burned, my children taken away, Those I once knew, I must bid adieu, and they rest in the grave. And all of my devotions, must be for nought, That I be a psyker! is the focus of my distraught! So, oh holy mountain, so pure and true indeed, why am I the lone one left, to suffer all misdeeds?"

The man waited, two days and two nights.
Praying to the Emporer, and reliving his life. On the third day, a great storm overtook the mountain, seemingly adding to his strife. But this storm bore with it answers, and wisdom. The man stood, bare to the elements, alone in the maelstrom. And the mountain spoke, in the Wind and Thunder, It spoke in the driving Rain, and the man listened with great wonder. The Spirit roared with its thunderous voice: "You are alone, but that is your calling. And while you may find this galling, There is little purpose to your life." The Mountain continued, unrelenting. "Nothing is Eternal, everything fades to nothing. You beloved Emperor? Nothing but a withered husk, Slowly being forgotten by Time, and gathering dust." The man cried out, unable to believe. But still the Mountain went on. "Your Imperium? Slowly falling into Chaos and destruction. Nothing lasts forever, but this is no disruption. It is a Universal Truth, known by all, yet remembered by few. So think upon your life, find meaning if you wish. But keep in mind that you are nothing but one miniscule fish, In a vast ocean of souls." |

"Then what is my purpose and why is my strife?
Why is it that I must suffer unto the night? If there are thousands of souls just like me why do we exist? Why do we believe in the face of nothings, and walk this path of life? If there are millions on billions in the vast Imperium that you claim is crumbling, Why do we persist? Why have we not been knocked from the stars onto death's scythe? We are not all dead, but why must we be? Cannot this fate desist? Cannot evil be destroyed? I see it all my life. The alien, the tainted, the evil ones, All have ceased to exist. Cannot we destroy them? Why cannot we hope to keep our life? The man started again: And you, oh Spirit? What about you? And your life? Why keep your own life?
