Tau Commander story
Can someone please tell me if this is in the wrong place? It might actualy belong in the Tau forum. Anyway. Here goes. (It's my first real attempt at writing fluff so don't be too hard on me)
Shas’O Suam’sha’is – Commander Flamewind
In recent years, more and more alien auxiliaries have been inducted into the glorious Tau Empire. The increasing numbers of such aliens have forced every facet of the Empire to adapt to this new age. Perhaps the most changed of these elements is the Fire Caste. Fire Caste doctrine is constantly adapting to effectively harness the strengths and weaknesses of a plethora of races. However, some Commanders still believe that the ritual of the hunt can only truly be trusted to a Tau, that the Tau are the only race with the ample mix of strength, courage, and honour to defend the Empire. One such a Commander is Shas’O Sa’cea Suam’sha’is Ar’tyr, or as he is more commonly known, Commander Flamewind. Flamewind is well known, not only for his unusual tactics, but his total refusal to accept any alien forces under his command.
Commander Flamewind was one of the only survivors of a Cadre almost completely destroyed as a result of the dismal failure of its Kroot Auxiliaries. Flamewind believes that accepting aliens into the Empire as equals will inevitably taint it with the separate weaknesses of a thousand different races. He is not overtly against the liberation of aliens, but believes that only a fool would expect them to contribute anything reliable in return. Most of all he is against the induction of humans, when he has seen many of his brothers die in battle against the living embodiment of all the human’s sins. Although he realises that the Tau have weaknesses of their own, he himself has proved that all of these can be overcome. Flamewind has fought and won many battles in a field most Tau shun, close combat. The mightiest of foes, and even war machines have crumpled beneath the strength of his Xar’Vesa Battlesuit. He gains the name Flamewind from the rather unorthadox tactics employed by himself and his Bodyguard unit. Multiple flamers and plasma rifles are unleased at close range against an unsuspecting enemy. Assuming the squad is not wiped out by the inferno, Flamewind himself charges into battle to destroy the remnants. His unit proves that ingenuity, courage, and above all else, unity, can overcome any obstacle, and that the Tau need no help in there quest to spread the Greater Good across the stars.
