Default [Battle Missions] Kill Team question

Hi all, I think this is the right place to put it.

Looking at the Kill Team game. I was just wondering on the FOC do you have to stick to a units rules. For example with a 'nids codex if I had 12 points remaining would I be able to take 2 hourmagaunts for cannon fodder or would the units minimal troop count still stick?

I understand if I can do this then 1 warrior and 2 hourmagaunts would count as my 2 troop choices.

You follow the same rules for normal Warhammer 40k unless it explicitly says otherwise, so you cannot take a unit of two gaunts unless a specific rule in one of the Battle Missions says you can ignore the minimum unit size rule.

No, you cannot take one Warrior and two Hormagaunts to count as your two Troops choices.

Well that just ruins all the fun lol. May have to 'adjust' that rule so can have a more varied KT

Not really, it's for balance purposes and to adjust the rule would put you at a severe (dis)advantage in certain game types. For Kill Team you don't have to take any troops as they are 0-2 in Kill Team, you just cannot take a unit below the minimum squad size.

But you can see a use in adjusting the rules. It says that other rules still need to apply so synapse would still be needed.

I remember reading the old rules but never played them, and the new system of a Kill Team vs. Kill team seems like it could get stale.

It would need some play testing with various forms taking place but would be intresting to see a small swarm of 'nids, i.e. 1 Warrior with a USP leading loads of standard gaunts/rippers, against a crack team of Space Marines. I think just looking at it the Kill Team rules would still fit in well.

Off the top of my head a Warrior 'nid with the Eternal Warrior rule or Feal No Pain could be quite dangerous and the marines having to shoot and hack their way through gaunts first. Still I guess I could use an elite but without a codex on hand I can't think of any cheap options to lead the nids.
