Ah-hah, More tons of info to reply on

mostly my orks are a big green tide with the mixture of speedy orks and some heavy artillery, it still needs work and needs to be bigger which I am aware so I will expand eventually but I want to concentrate on when I get there (all i need is a battleforce, 2 packs of nobz and a pack of burnas) then I can do apocalypse.

So the core Apocalypse book is a must? ok it's only because a mate has only the reload book which I have had a quick look through and it is full of different things, it also contains the stompa and whatever so I would be happy with that but since I feel a big urge for the fighta-bomma I will get that and eventually get reload.

How does the points systems work for the making of your own vehicle? Is it like just based on points of a vehicle or add loads more if it has raised armour and same cost for weapons (e.g TW boomgun would be 105 pts?) Sorry, it's just im on a college computer for now and I can't access GW site on here...

I wasn't considering forgeworlds Imperial Armour as "goofy" it's just it sounded from some other website thats all so try not to get the idea that I am thinking that please, :-\

My plan is kind of stuck from the beggining to be honest, Stompa and Fighta-Bomma for now so that I have some air support (I love my aircraft!) while I have something stomping towards the enemy, blasting cannons then when it's too late for them, slice up their vehicles and guys!

I will buy apocalypse book in about 2 weeks time so until then, I am basically useless rulewise, Sorry about that!

EDIT: Sorry about calling you masked, MT ;D

Don't forget you can always make your own models to count as some of the larger vehicles. It is always cheaper and with Orks, surprisingly easy, you can get away with it looking pretty crazy.

That's true, thinking about it I might make my own Battlefortress (well like one anyway because I do not know points cost or stats for one of those.)

Okay, so a mix of fast (presumably melee based) and slow/shooty then. Since you pretty much run the gamut of possibilities, I'll give you some general recommendations.

The (original) Stompa is a general all-rounder. It can shoot well and it can assault well. If you preferred shooting then you could convert a regular Stompa into a Big Mek's Stompa or if you preferred melee then you could convert one into a Goff Klawstompa. Da Evil Eye In The Sky is a specialised Stompa that isn't really that effective, but is really funny.

The Skullhammer Battle Fortress is a fast, tough Super-Heavy vehicle that shoots really well as well as a transport capacity. By the sounds of your army, one of these would fit right in. They are easily converted from Baneblades, especially if you've got a good bits box filled with Orky leftovers.

The Fighta-Bommer is a good all-round aircraft, capable of destroying aerial and ground targets. Flyers are loads of fun too, so I can't recommend this unit enough.

The Loota Wreckin' Krew requires you to have at least three Trukks and at least three units of Lootas, but is fast and shooty (and allows you to shoot your Lootas on the move, at the risk of killing some of your own guys from friendly fire). Bear in mind that the minimum Loota unit size is only 5 models, so you could use this with as few as 15 Lootas + 3 Trukks, which you may well already have. If you've got the models already, this is a good Formation to look at using.

You really need the core Apocalypse book to get you going with the game. It tells you how to set the game up, what size table you ought to use, how to use Super-Heavy Vehicles (and how to destroy them) as well as Gargantuan Creatures, Flyers and many other things necessary to get going.

As mentioned before, owning the extra books help out you in so much as they give you additional options, but without the core Apocalypse book you'll be missing out on several core rules that you need to actually play.

Note that the Stompa version contained in Apocalypse Reload isn't the core version as found in the main Apocalypse book. It's more melee orientated and can't actually be created from the main Stompa box set without significant scratch building.

There is no formula you can use to make your own things up. If you had a copy of the Vehicle Design Rules (and old, 3rd Edition ruleset that actually did contain formulas to create your own vehicles) then I'd highly recommend you use that, but if you don't then the only thing you can do is guess.

In the article I linked to, they suggested that you start by picking a similar, existing Datasheet and change things a bit at a time. In general, it's better to overcost the things you make up yourself than to undercost them, since if you overcost things then you're only harming yourself (whereas if you undercost something then your opponents will be less likely to let you use it again in a game due to its perceived 'overpoweredness&#39.

To be honest, that's a good start to an Apocalyptic force. If you get those two models, along with the things listed above (the Battleforce etc.) and the Apocalypse rulebook then I reckon you'll be well set to venture into Apocalyptic battles.

Not a problem. The only reason I ask it is that the full name doesn't really flow well when you read it. 'MT' flows a lot easier and is shorter and easier to type. To be honest though, if no-one ever calls me it I won't mind too much.

Annoy me? Nothing of the sort. As I said before, I'm glad to be able to answer these questions whilst I can.

Do let us know how your Apocalyptic exploits go, whether in this thread or in another. I'll especially be interested in photos once you've gotten everything glued up and painted

Since MT doesn't have Imperial Armour Apocalypse II yet, and I had a copy nearby I figured I'd give you a little bit of info on the bits and bobs in It:

Mega-Dread - Massive Walker with a save against attacks due to it's size. Can go Shooty, Balanced, or CC monsters. Klaws can tear into tanks like ripe fruit.
Available from Forge World.

Mekboy Junka - Roughly Trukk-sized vehicle. Mekboyz personal transport. Can take lots of goodies like Shokk Attack Guns and Kustom Force Fields, and can also mount disproportionately sized weapons. Has a small transport capacity, and can take a Deff Rolla.
Looks to be converted from a Rhino with Orky bitz and a Deffrolla.

Big Trakk - Tracked vehicle with Trukk transport capacity and Light Armament. Can be upgraded with weapons ranging from large to huge to Ridiculous. Moderate armour. can move across dangerous terrain easier.
Available from forge world.

Kustom Battle Fortress - Like a normal Battle Fortress, but Kustomizable. Can Perform a number of roles from AA to Titan-Hunting to Indirect Firing. Thick armour and Large Transport Capacity, but loses transport capacity for larger guns.
Converted from forge would bits, but based around a Battle Fortress.

Kill Krusher 'eavy Tank - Large Tank with small transport capacity and Extremely versatile main gun that can fire several types of shells, but can go wrong. It's suspension is highly sprung so it is easier to fully immobilise than most vehicles. Can be upgraded with extra Guns.
Available from Forge World.

Mega-Rippa Krew - Several Mega Dreads get bonuses penetrating armour and move faster than usual once per game.

Hopefully thats enough of any overview for you. I've gtg now, but feel free to PM me or somethin' if you've got any questions.

Dragonlord, try not to necromance. You've done it a few times now today. This thread is a few months old. Just try to be more careful in the future.

I think we can make an exception to the usual 2 month rule for threads in low traffic boards that are still on the front page. Plus, he was being genuinely helpful.
