Default Planetstrike Products

So far, im only reviewing products I know fairly well. Expect more to be added as I buy/play with them more.

Mines: Cool as hell. Dunno how effective they are, but the box set costs $20, and despite not needing bases due to the way they are modeled, comes with a pile of 40mm bases(12, IIRC). IMO, this is great news, and makes an already affordable set a great buy. For some odd reason, I cant see this set online.

Aegis Defence Line: If you enjoy playing defenders, you want these. 4+ cover saves(2+ if gone to ground) rock. Also $20. Also, I feel they are great for regular games of 40k, as directional cover adds a fun tactical element to the game. In addition, the quad autocannon is a very fun and effective equipment. IMO, this is the best set released, and should be considered even for those who don't care about planetstrike.

Skyshield Landing Pad: $40. Great model. However, one of these is generally plenty for most tables. They are *big*, and will hold a valkrie with plenty of room to spare for troops. The cover on the sides can fold down to form part of the pad, adding a fun possible game event. The corners are not impacted by the fold down, so if you want to add gun turrets to one, put a platform there.

Bastion: $30. Enough for one standard sized tower...some extra gubbins with antennae and such. I could see this being converted to work well with the imperial city set, and you can combine multiple bastion sets easily to form a super bastion. We've got a dude in a shop I frequent making one three layers high, with smaller layers at the top, using foamboard for flooring. If standard assembly is used, the inside is not accessible. Has a lascannon turret.

Chaos Bastion: The above, plus two chaos tank accessory sprues for $46. I honestly wouldn't bother unless I was running out of spiky bits, or had a need to covert imperial tanks to chaos.

Strongpoint: 2 regular bastions, 3 aegis defence lines. $120 in models for $90. A good way to start a table off, IMO.

Imperial Outpost: GW board, plus a strongpoint. $380. IMO, $290 for the board is too high. Note that this is exactly the same price as it is seperately, so this set gets you absolutely no discount whatsoever.

Imperial Defence Network: $559. 5 Bastion, 7 Aegis, 1 Skyshield, game board. Figure $330 for the terrain, and the board is down to $229. IMO, only worth it if you insist on having the GW board. I suspect I need to add a seperate rant regarding the GW board.

Blastscape: Meh, more craters. More interesting than moonscape, IMO, but still, just craters. Very optional. Same basic price as the other 'scape sets, $20.

Spear of Sicarus: Over a thousand freaking dollars. Buying the exact same models seperately costs the exact same price. If you buy this set, you deserve to be beaten, because you could have been buying army boxes or other combo packs instead.

Very cool write up Tyndmyr, just one thing though the Aegis Lines have a special rule, they're a 4+ cover save normally, but 2+ when going to ground.

My brother has a set of these, and they're very nice. The quad autocannon is a cool bonus, as well.

Nice. I still remember the old bases with plastic bulkheads and cardboard walkways that they used to sell, I even had one! Ah those were the days. Still, prefer this new stuff!

I've bought One of the Aegis defence lines packs, and it seems adequate for a small table, for larger games, or if you want a Castle formation (see Planetstrike) then I recommend the Strongpoint.

Aegis Defence Line: worth buying in quantity.

Strongpoint: one of the best terrain deals I've seen, and soon as you read planetstrike, you will see that it is a must have. if you are able to find a discount reseller that offers free shipping, I would honestly recomend getting two of these, it's one thing that you won't regret. For every battleforce, buy a strongpoint, it's the ideal terrain set for every gamer, cool versitile and simple.

I have been reselling all of the quad gun sprews out of these and just keepong the terrain that I am interested in. The bastions look nice, but I would recomend painting them and then dry fitting them togather (use duck tape to keep things togather) then you can change the look of your set up from fortress (look on page___ where there are the sisters of battle defeding the line fortress) tobastion and back again, wiout having to buy tons of strongpoint sets (not that that's bad)
