Default American Football and 40k

For all those of you who live in America and at least have a basic knowledge of football (our version):

Today my friend and I were eating at a local diner, discussing 40k and the upcoming CP tourney that our local store is holding. Somehow, we started drifting onto the topic of football. This lead me to think, somehow, about the connections various races have to various football teams.

Because I live in New England, I happen to be devout Patriots fan. And I also play Tau. On some earlier forums, I had put forth my idea that Tau was powerful because each of their suits, units, and vehicles can be outfitted for multiple purposes. Today I realized the Patriots are the same way. Belichick, the Head Coach will soon be filling the role of Offensive Coordinator, Troy Brown played both wide receiver and defensive back in this last season. Tom Brady has a Rail Gun for an arm. Vrabel can play both line backer and receiver (he has the best catch/points record in playoff games in the NFL, lol... like 3 catches for 18 points or something like that... crazy. Vinatieri is like a Pathfinder: He doesn't put up a lot of points, but he helps us win games. And, my personal favorite part of the analogy, when we didn't have a ground game, we had to use trickery and advanced tactics to our advantage (running the shotgun 5 wide formation almost all the time, with a run here and there). But since we 'rescued' Dillion from the Bengals, he has put his strength to use on our offense, augmenting our 'army' in a way very similar to the Kroot. Plus, the Tau emerged as a playable race in 2000/2001... Just like the Patriots emerged as a football contender, with their first Super Bowl win.

Any other team analogies you can make like this? Such as the Colts being analogous to the Dark Eldar (hehe! All offense no defense!)

Love to hear what you guys come up with.

I am going to ask you very politely what all of that means in real language?

LOL, okay, maybe there aren't enough American footbal fans to do something like this I just thought it was fun/funny to think of them... Actually, do you know any sports teams that resemble 40k races? As geeky as it sounds, it should yield some funny comparisons.

Well, the England Rugby team that won us the world cup was very much like a beardy army that no one had worked out how to combat: IE they relied entirely on one thing <Johnny Wilkinson>

This just does not belong in general 40K, it requires detailed knowledge of a sport, which isn't even real rugby/football.
About the only thing I can see linking American football and Tau is that both need excessive amounts of armour to have a hope of victory.

Give Rugby a go, much better for you.

Dude that is an interesting comparison. I live in the states and am a Eagles fan. I have always thought that the Raiders, or their fans, reminded me of Orks. (who would have guessed that one). anyway cool comparison
