The Battle of Yonkers is arguably my favorite part from World War Z so far (Only just started the third disk). Their is enough detail without being swamped down by it all, and the voice actor did a good job.
My main question(s) is what did you think of it? What could the Americans have done differently? As far as I can tell, the high command should have stayed out of it. Let the boys fight in BDU, not MOPG (Mission oriented protective gear), let them use the buildings of Yonkers as cover, and not be fighting on the ground. See, if they were fighting from the rooftops, and everything went to shit, helo-extraction could have saved everyone! Oh, and getting rid of all that shit they didn't need. The armored bridge layer (For the three inch deep creek...) the FOL, the SAM humvees, the electronic warfare vehicles, and even land warrior could have been gone. Replace all of that with more ammo. And get rid of the HEAT rounds from the Abrams, and give them more canister shots. So much to debate... ![]() Can't wait till the Z-war movie! And as a P.S: Sorry if my grammar/spelling is off. Just got off that damned C-130!

Well, first you have to start off with how little understanding the Author has of US military hardware, primarily the M16, and his insane love of the inaccurate but mostly sturdy AK-47/AK-74. And then you have to look at the secondary factor of the fact that he's ignoring the shrapnel that would and does penetrate heads, sever heads, limbs, destroy torsos, etc.
Other than that... It was politics that doomed Yonkers, guaranteed that some White House undersecretary with just enough leverage convinced someone there that it would be a good idea to deploy all of the high tech weapons. |

Max does mention the shrapnel, and explains that latter in the fight there were so many zombies that they shieled each other from the blast and what not. They did take out thousands of them, at least. One thing that I thought was missing was landmines. Why just have arty. MLRS and tank fire? Wouldn't a bouncing betty work wonders on a zombie horde?
