Well, a while ago (around 6 months) i posted on here asking "What would you do if you could travel at the speed of light". It was for my drama monologue, I just needed some examples to work into the script.
Turns out you guys were really helpful, the monologue got me Rank 2 in the Trial exams and the final HSC performance is tomorrow. The script focuses on the characters that are met, Theatre of Transformation, I change into the characters that are met etc etc some clothing props and nice quirky man character (hunched shoulders, weird awkward smile and a nice nervous american voice (well I'm in Australia, so america works well to stand out)). So I thought I'd post up the final product, the Bold is from members on this site. Of course Genmotty's answer was a little to in depth to use... :P Even if they weren't quoted directly, all lot of the idea's given influenced what I wrote. Thanks Again. [hr] A Complex Question [LIGHTS UP] What would you do if you could travel at the speed of light? Don’t answer straight away! Think about it, think carfully. It truly is a complex question, just the sheer number of possibilties that such an ability might represent…..its…..well……its mind boggling….. I think, to fully comprehend what would be possible if one was to be able to travel at such a speed, one must understand what travelling at the speed of light actually means. The exact speed of light is taken to be 299 792 458 meters per second and this is a universal constant, it is the highest velocity that anything in the universe can attain. A reasonable example of what one could do with such speed was presented while on my way to the train station by one youth between the ages of 13 and 15, medium brown hair, freckles and a somewhat scrawny physical composure. Visual contact with said individual was made at 9 23 am and vocal communication commenced approximately at 9 25 am outside a yet to be opened comic book store. He seemed an inquisitive young boy so I posed the question to him, what would you do if you could travel at the speed of light? I received a condescending answer without hesitation and with complete conviction. “I’d be a superhero, duh” A superhero! This boy would use the ultimate power of physics to protect the weak, save lifes, do battle against villains and risk ones own safety for that of the public. [ADD BLUE LIGHTS] The "philosophy" informing the ethos of vigilante superheroes was essentially formulated centuries ago by Aristotle: “Men possessing superior virtue and self-mastery necessarily transcend the external human bureaucratic-administrative framework: There are men, wrote Aristotle, so godlike, so exceptional, that they naturally, by right of their extraordinary gifts, transcend all moral judgment or constitutional control: 'There is no law which embraces men of that caliber: they are themselves law.” [REMOVE BLUE LIGHTS] Of course, I get a lot of smart answers. While waiting for the train I posed the question to a middle aged man, medium build, tweed jacket, leather elbow patches, glasses and a bark brown briefcase. The question was posed at approximately 9 37 am His reply was, “see a Psychiatrist”. But what did he mean!?!?, would he travel to the Psychiatrist at unparalled speeds, travel through time perhaps and see psychiatrist during the 41st millennium or would he grab onto a psychiatrist and travel with him and or her through time and space into infinity!!!!...But then it dawned on me, ha, he was having a go at me, “very funny you”, and off I trot onto the train. Once on the train, I overheard a conversation between 2 teenagers of ages approximately 16 and 17, one was wearing a blue t shirt with a stereotypical slogan while the other was dressed in equal creative attire, a green t shirt also sporting a slogan. Blue shirt was complaining that he wasn’t massive enough, he wanted to go to the gym and become more massive. “Ergh, my guns aren’t big enough, and my pecks are kind of wimpy, I need to go to a gym, pump some iron, get nice and massive.” Ha, I scoffed at him “What was that 4 eyes?” inquired green t shirt. And I explained: Another side affect at travelling at high speeds is that your mass increases the faster you go. There relative. Therefore, traveling infinitely fast, which is the speed if light, also means you will become infintaley massive. They were quite astounded: “What else happens when travel that fast?” Well effectively you can travel through time and be in 2 places at once. What would you do with that sort of power?” “Cleopatra and Kirsten Bell at the same time.” I rolled my eyes and departed from the train at approximately 10:05am. Flagged down a taxi, it only had 1 of its original wheels, 3 hubcaps, t new bonnet and the left back door didn’t open. The Taxi left the curb at 10:09 am. The taxi driver was middle aged and balding, overweight and sweated. His black cap didn’t look like it had been washed in years. I mentioned to the taxi driver that the two teenage boys would use the power to travel through time, be in to places at once, be infinitely massive and relative to other observers travel at 3 times ten to the power of eight meters per second to simultaneously make love to 2 separate highly attractive women. THATS JIBBA JABBA! “what would you do then?” I inquired. “Make myself rich in an instant, rob some banks, steal some diamonds, no more driving around this hunk of metal for pennies, by myself some mansions and set myself up for the rest of my life” Ah, and there it was, self-gain, I knew that in was inevitable that someone would only be able to think of themselves. Heee, with the power to move planets destroy stars and create blackholes this poor self centered man would steal a pile of paper and some shiny coins, maybe a few shiny rocks as well. [ADD RED LIGHTS] The Philosophy of the Villain, also known in film and literatature and bad guy, black hat or heavy, is essentially an evil character in a story. Whether a historical narrative or work of fiction. Villain comes from the Anglo-French Work Villein, which in itsel descends from the late-Latin work Villainous, meaning farmhand. It referred to someone of less then knightly status and came mean someone who was not chivalrous. It was soon used as a term of abuse and later took on the modern meaning of the word. [REMOVE RED LIGHTS] The conversation of course teetered on to this and that until I arrived at my destination and left the taxi at 10:22 am. And there I was, at the entrance to the National University of Physics, I’d made this journey to ask the head of the physics department what he would do with such a power, obviously a man with such inelligience and knowledge on the subject would be able to give me the wise and insightful answer that I seek. I made my way through te campus and arrived at his office at exactly 10:32 am. I knocked quietly then entered. He was sitting behind his desk marking some undergraduate papers Nothing. Since I'd be travelling forward through time at an infinite rate compared to outside observers, everyone I ever knew or cared about would die before I got to see them ever again. So, nothing. I must have missed the original thread, but reading through this... it's really cool. I would've loved to see you perform it, but it's a great monologue in my opinion.

Damn, I missed that thread it seems...
My reply would have been "get the hell away from this conversation." :P
