I leave tomorrow for a 179 day deployment downrange. This time (thankfully) I'm not being deployed with an Army unit so I shouldn't be out patrolling nearly as much. I'm heading downrange mostly as a trainer, in order to help out the other airmen on their first deployments and to offer training to some of the local nationals.
From what I hear the entire base now has wi-fi, and I'll be working 12 hour shifts 4 days on and 1 off so free time will be a rare luxury for me. I'll stop by when I can to say hi and I'll be back again early next year.

12-hour shifts on a 4:1, eh? Wi-Fi?
Beats the hell out of 10-hour shifts on a 7:0, if you ask me. ![]() Sounds a lot like our Al Asad base, actually, which is, oddly enough a better station to be at than where I'm currently at; Twentynine Palms, hehe. Al Asad actually has a Starbucks and a MacDonalds! --- Have fun out there man, and stay motivated. I know what the real danger is overseas; boredom. Don't let it, and it's cousin complacency, get to you.

Stay safe man. It's been a pleasure having you on the guard board and we look forward to your hearing from you again soon.
