Do you guys think it would be cool if they did a Scary Movie-like movie based purely on different games?
They could throw in all sorts of references like But the whole point would be for humour, as the characters would have to do stuff that are characterful - yet funny. For example, you could have the guy from Assassins Creed falling down and missing the hay bail and breaking his back, Duke Nukem trying to pick up Lara Croft etc Anyway, feel free to post as many amusing things that could happen in this hypothetical movie ;D |

Go buy the Press Start movie. That is, if you can find it, funny as hell tho.

I would love this. But would be heartbroken if it turned out badly. Which, knowing this day and age's film makers, would probably happen.
Master Chief dies in the first few seconds. :P

I can just see the opening scene now: Agent 47 (from: Hitman games) zooms in on his target and then the building explodes and Mattias (Mercs 2) strolls into shot and 47 is about to shoot him when a pig-cop from Duke Nukem bursts in and then gets his head blown off by Lara Croft. Nukem strolls in, carrying a shotgun and makes a wise-crack about Lara doing his job for him and then a T-Rex bursts in. Lara makes a crack about "Not again" and then Turok emerges from somewhere and fires a flaming arrows into it... Suddenly, from out of now where, a souped-up racing car bursts into the scene from Forza Motorsport and leaps off a ramp and crashes into the T-Rex's belly and knocks it over. Meanwhile, Mattias (Mercs) is calling in an airstrike... |

NO NO NO DELETE THIS THREAD NOW BEFORE A HOLLYWOOD EXEC PICKS IT UP!!!
This is going to be like Meet the Spartans but following the law of videogame movies (namely, the law of them sucking a lot more than their none video game based counterparts) it's going to be every WORSE than the usual parody movie. Imagine Meet the Spartans/Epic Movie but WORSE!

Did you know that at the highest point of No Country For Old Men, it reached number 5 on the charts whilst Meet the Spartans was being universally seen and universally regretted by anybody who saw it at number one? That new crappy film with Sandra Bullock grossed something like 34 million in it's opening weekend. And I think so did Year One or whatever that travesty was called. My point is there's occasions when mainstream blockbusters lives up to every minute of the hype, Dark Knight, recently Star Trek, Wall-E. But for the most part the collective audience pays $9 or whatever, walks in to the cinema to see the latest tripe, and then walks out of the theatre shaking their head and talking about how bad the movie they just saw was. And then two weeks later goes and does the exact same thing again. If a movie doesn't look any good, have a premise that promises to be any good, and you know the director hasn't done anything good, and none of the actors has done anything good....well...then it's probably not any good. So why do people watch it? Just go out for a dinner or go to the pub or the internet cafe or the beach or I DON'T KNOW WHY MUST WE PAY TO WATCH CRAP. Hollywood still makes good films, but unlike the golden age of cinema, the years of Star Wars and Exorcist and Godfather, Taxi Driver, Midnight Cowboy, Citizen Kane, M for Murder, Sunset Boulevard, All About Eve, unlike the times of Scorsese, Hitchcock, Coppola and Welles, the age of De Niro, Pacino, Duvall and Nicholson, we just don't appreciate good films anymore. So we reward bad films with opening weekend records and full house sales, and then the execs say "well everybody complains that our movies are frit but they watch it anyway so let's make more of the same" and thus you get epic movie, date movie, scary movie 3 & 4, meet the spartans etc. Basically if Hollywood makes bad films, then just refuse to watch them. It's not that hard. Maybe try smoking pot instead, I've done both and am convinced pot is far less damaging to your brain than the latest rom-com or comedy about a Martin Lawrence in a fat suit. dit: also I'm tired and sick but assume I made a massive rant against the Academy because they only help the populist crappy film atmosphere. See, people percieve the Academy Awards as elitist, which is not true, Cannes is elitist, Venice and Montreal are elitist, the Academy is not. However the problem is to counter this perception that the Academy is elitist, the Academy KEEPS CHOOSING ABOVE AVERAGE-ISH POPULIST FILMS (ie. Crash and Chicago), the audience sees this and rather than thinking that the Academy is populist instead they just reset the standards of populism to make it EVEN LOWER. The Academy plays too safe with it's choices. Which is why you'll rarely see truly excellent films, whether alternative or mainstream, sweep the house clean. Pulp Fiction (which I would call an exceptional alternative film) lost to Forrest Gump (an above average mainstream but not too populist film) whilst Dark Knight (an exceptional IMO mainstream film) lost to whoever the hell Dark Knight lose to. Basically if you ever wonder why horror, action, sci-fi, comedy, art house and fantasy rarely wins oscars that's your reason.
