Default Roundabouts and America?

Are there roundabouts in America?
it's just that I never recall ever seeing any in any of your TV shows or when i was there last.
We have plenty down here in Aus, and i think there great.
So do they exist there?
If not, does anyone know why?

There's one in downtown Gettysburg, PA. There are a few in MA, I believe. They're here but they're scattered and are mainly on the East Coast.

Roundabouts are great...but they are unusual for US drivers so they can be a little scary. Roundabouts in Ireland? Bad news because it's an unfamiliar road feature and you're driving the "wrong way".

They are becoming more and more popular where I live, Maine, northeast in the US. We have them mainly in rural areas where our cities still use traffic lights.

I believe that Jeremy Clarkson would point out the roundabout cannot exist in America; American cars are built to go in straight lines, whereas a Roundabout is a piece of road where it is impossible to go straight. As such, any American car approaching a roundabout would crash, or possibly spontaneously combust in sheer terror. :P

So, when do we expect the British to march in and take over when all the American Motorists are killed by roundabouts?

We have roundabouts here in Nebraska, I enjoy them, unless the city is stupid enough to put them RIGHT NEXT TO A ****ING RAILROAD! Christ that was the most idiotic idea ever, you know what you're supposed to do when there is a train going and you're in a roundabout? Continue driving, not ****ing stop so other people cannot get to where they need to go!

Heh, in the city where I live (I live in the UK btw), there are no shortage of round-abouts. Between me and my best mate in Leeds (I lived in Bradford), there are around 6 roundabouts and that's what about 8mile?

Roundabouts are a waste of time compared to a good old fashioned 4 way stop intersection. What it does do is stop drunk drivers from flying through, T-boning someone. Instead they hit what ever decorative center these wastes of time and money have...
