Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. Contained in a circle corrupted by crackheads and carnal cravings, he creates no concession to callous cheaters concentrating on nought but cock. Certainly, still a curious and cordial cavalier in the countenance of crazed cads, curs and creeps who condemn courtesy as something corny. No cloud could collapse his crushing crescendo of comical crowing and crimson coiffure. This conjecture on culture comes circumlocutive, consequently...

Much better than I thought it would be. The acting was pretty sketchy though, they could have done much better than they did.
The "Hallelujeh" sequence was priceless, but they completely half assed the first attempt at sex between Laurie and Dan. That sequence was one of the funniest things in the comic, and they butchered it!.
Also, no Rorhschach breaking fingers or jumping out of fridges = fail
Rorshach did break fingers. No fridge-jumping though.

couple quotes from Avery Strange...

Who Watches the Watchmen… Almost everyone will. Zack Snyder has seemingly done the impossible, he’s bridged the gap between comic book enthusiasts and the laymen movie goer and, dare I say it, appeased both crowds.

I want to spend some time on the sex scene, by the by. First and foremost, it’s digitally modified in the style of Marve and Goldie’s coupling in Sin City. But that doesn’t matter, while I was sitting in the theater, when the Owl and Silk go at it, every guy in the theater gave a gentle sigh and an ‘oh my god.’ Afterward, dozens of reveling dudes seemed to all agree that- My ex had tits/ass/moves like that. Well, that seems almost impossible that everyone could be so fortunate, but I agreed- Sarah did have some of the most beautiful breasts and I got to see them again in the Watchmen.

To conclude, this is how you make a comic-book movie. With the exception of Iron Man or the Dark Knight, you don’t hire a big budgeted name and try to make a movie. Get actors that work together, don’t turn the movie into “Toby McGuire: as Spiderman” let the actors act, let them use their craft. To the producers of Hollywood: This is how you make your money, you make a good ****ing movie. Stop worrying so much about Val Kilmer optioning the picture, stop trying to attach Brad Pitt to a flick, just get the actors that will best convey what the STORY is about. I mean, that’s why we like comic books- right? We excuse so much in comic books- bad writing, bad art, months before we get the next installment. It’s all about the story! Why make things overly complicated by trying to dumb down the spirit of the story and Hollywood(ize) it in the hopes of a better box-sale? (**** you Wanted).

Is this easy? No, you’ve still gotta improve the writing, visualize the actions of those still frames and breath life into a popular genre. In the Spirit we saw, almost word for word, a comic book and it sucked. In the Watchmen the writers took the initiative and evolved the language and, most importantly, let the actors become the characters.

I thought it followed the book pretty damn well, with the exception of the ending which was only changed slightly but I can see why

I enjoyed the film despite it's faults, however if Doctor Manhattan's penis had anymore time on screen the regulations of the Screen Actor's Guild would have entitled it to have a speaking part.

One vital part was missing however
you didn't get to see the part with hollis mason (Night Owl I) being murderd by an unruley mob, oh and of course the Curse of the black freighter (which i belive will be relesed sepratly so thats good)
But all in all the movie was fantastic 9.8 out of 10, no it wasn't a direct copy of the book but no movie is this was true to the story while retaining the vital movie scenes, oh and one other problem
The "All Allong the Watchtower" played when Rorshach and night owl where walking to Karnak they played the wrong verse god damn it

They play: And all along the watchtower, princes kept the view, while all the women came and went bare foot servents too

But it should be: And outside in the cold distance a wild cat did growl to riders where aproaching and the wind began to howl

Small point of anoyance but none the less
Metal fans are allowed to use stereotyped generalisations of other types of music. Why? Because the "avatar" of Rap and similar music is a binged up black guy who holds his gun in such a way as he will probably shoot his own foot off in a gunfight. The avatar of Metal is a bearded, unwashed Scandinavian guy who kills you, your family, your town, your country and the neighbouring country because there isn't much else to do up in the snowy fjords of Vikingland.

my response
yes I was waiting for the part where the unruly mob killed hollis mason, but that wasn't really vital to the story much like I was disapointed they left out the curse of the black frieghter, but come on, in Watchmen, even the subplots have subplots, you have to draw the line somewhere as the budget isnt infinite.
