Default My middle east game shindig

As some of you may know, I've been holding a fairly successful trial run of a middle east game I made.

Once we finished this current trial run we'll be having a game of V1 and of course you're all welcome.

But then I thought, what the hey, why stop at the middle east?

I'm thinking maybe I can create a few new scenarios. That way we can hold multiple at once. Because one problem with these games is that they only allow so many players and a game will stretch on for quite a few weeks. This leaves a lot of players out in the cold. Once I work out the core rules, holding a game is actually quite easy.

So, any suggestions?

We could do Europe pre WW1 I guess but I just find that boring and overdone now.

Colonial era Asia, is something which could be done and is a pet favourite of mine in terms of setting.

Or the times of the Roman Republic? That's always popular.

We could always do the Crusades.

The point is to look for an era of powerplay and limited wars in a complex geopolitical situation with a LOT of nations, and no solid alignment. So say, WW2 Europe wouldn't work, because everybody is Axis or Allies, but pre WW1 Europe could as there was no certainty who was allied to who and who was scheming against who.

Or America. Or S.America. There's a lot more choices than you thought of.

What about a global one with the 1700 superpowers?

The Americas would be doable in very early colonial period. Or before WW1 (which I just find boring, I mean). But anything after WW1 and USA would screw up the game.

Dangerman:

hah, global one would be chaos, we could also do a global one after WW1. As that was an interesting era in terms of shifting alliances and ideology.
