Default Is Hollywood getting lazy with baddies?

It seems that everything is blamed on viruses these days. If a movie has zombies in it, then it's usually a virus that did it. Vampires, 9 times out of 10, a virus....

Just a random thought that I'd thought I'd share...

Yeah! why cant they just go XRazy on everyone for the hell of it?

its simple, strait to the point, and doesnt make you think about it. vampire bit you? ah ok. Why are they vampires? virus? ok. We are raised with cliches that we dont mind watching. Short and sweet as opposed to long winded. Short and sweet is the preference.

To be fair, in MI:II Chimera wasn't the villain, it was a weapon...

But Chimera and Jolly Roger don't support it.

I think the point he was making was that the virus in MI:II was the real threat. Without it the baddies would be virtually powerless

But it's still a weapon, like a nuclear device or something. In the other cases, the virus has become explicitly the bad guy.
