Default Charity Gig Results - Leukaemia Research

Hey guys,

I meant to mention this a while back, but it slipped my mind.

On the 20th December I did a gig for charity. I never gig for myself, because the way I see it as long as I cover costs it doesn't matter - I have plenty of money anyway, and I enjoy playing to people enough that it's its own reward.

I've always made a point of raising money for charities that have no link to myself - otherwise I feel like it's a selfish thing. For example, I'm bipolar. A lot of my friends have depressive disorders, and everyone on my mother's side of the family including my sister and I have some kind of depressive disorder. One of my friends killed himself as a result of self-doubt. It'd be very easy and understandable for me to raise money for any kind of mental health charity, but I'd feel selfish in doing so.

So over the years I've raised money for Cancer Research, when no one I know has cancer (well that's changed now but at the time it was the case), for Children In Need, when I've always had a happy childhood, for Down's Syndrome Association, despite not knowing anyone with Down's. I also never raise money for the same charity twice.

So working on this basis, for my most recent gig I wanted to do something I hadn't done that wasn't connected to me. I chose Leukaemia Research. It wasn't until after I'd done the gig that I remembered that I did have a connection to people who have had or been affected by leukaemia - everybody here who was here before I joined, pretty much. I'm not sure of the exact date we lost KJ, only that I never knew him.

I'm not trying to brag. I don't do charity work to have people think better of me. But I think those of you who knew KJ and those of you who raised the Ork army also to raise money for charity would be interested to hear that I raised 65 for Leukaemia Research. It's not a lot of money, I know, we didn't have a great turnout. But I wanted you guys to know.

Thanks,
Circus

Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. Contained in a circle corrupted by crackheads and carnal cravings, he creates no concession to callous cheaters concentrating on nought but cock. Certainly, still a curious and cordial cavalier in the countenance of crazed cads, curs and creeps who condemn courtesy as something corny. No cloud could collapse his crushing crescendo of comical crowing and crimson coiffure. This conjecture on culture comes circumlocutive, consequently...

I can feel for you feeling selfish about those aspects...

I can't do anything for myself without feeling bad for it _

Well done dude, I'd shake your hand and hug you if i could see you face to face, you're a good man

My sister died of leukaemia when she was eight & had Down's syndrome too, so reading this made me quite emotional. Not only had you raised money for Leukaemia Research, but Down's Syndrome Assosiation as well. Seeing this brought up memories of old times.

Well done Circus, & thank you, you've really made my day.
