Default Your Worst Modeling Injuries

Having been involved in the hobby for many years now, it becomes apparent that mixing eager gamers who have just hurriedly opened their newest boxed set and want to get about assembling it with the utmost enthusiasm. With razor blades, hacksaws, pin vices, hot wire cutters, super glue clippers and paint strippers. - Is not the safest combination. :P

Most mini painters and modelers experience some sort of hobby related injury. This topic is a place to tell everyone about how you got your horrific scars and wounds Just just complain how much it hurts when you stab yourself with a pin-vice.

Ill get the ball rolling i guess -
A while back, i was paint stripping some old metal marines with Nitromorse paint stripper (its supposed to be used on furniture and suchlike, to remove varnish, paint and just about anything else.)
I decided to paint strip in my conservatory, as it is well ventilated, and my family wouldn't care if it was full of noxious toxic fumes.
I left the models and the can of paint stripper in the conservatory, came back to it a hour or 2 later. .. Bear in mind this was a hot sunny day. (see where this is going?)
Shook up the paint stripper and went to open it.
The top blew off as i finished unscrewing it spraying my left side and my conservatory in burning paint stripper.
It probably looked quite funny, as 15 seconds later the scalding sensation started on the left side of my face and my left arm and hand, and i ran to dive into the shower fully clothed.
Luckily i got there quickly and i am not horribly facially scarred down my left side ... well... not too much :P

Post up your experiences, they dont have to be quite as dramatic

The Red Terror bit me.

The little bugger drew blood and everything.

I was assembling the mouth bit and was applying pressure as the glue took hold. I slipped and rammed my thumb up onto his teeth and proceeded to curse repeatedly.

I don't even play 'nids. I was assembling and painting it for a friend.

I'm better at L5R than I am at 40K.

The worst thing that's ever happened to me was once, when I was pinning something (I don't remember what), my hand slipped and the bit (the smallest GW one, just under 1mm) ran all the way into my thumb, about half an inch. It bled a bit but didn't sting to badly and quickly healed.

Other than that I've had nothing other than the odd cutting your thumb a bit.

hmm... i haven't suffered many injuries to be honest. Obviously I've cut myself loads of times, but the only other thing I've done was to stick my fingers together with super glue (this was a bit after I started the hobby and was younger) then I freed them using a pin :P.
"*=3*...What is it now private? More cheese?"
"No... it's much worse than that sir... it's super cheese."
Egg song, thank you Sidstyler![hr]

I've accidently cut my hand with a craft knife so many times that I don't seem to feel it any more.
This is a great community, thanks a million skylight!

Oddly enough, the most painful hobby accident I've ever gotten myself into has been super-gluing my fingers to my eyebrow. Hurt like a bitch pulling those hairs out.

I had a professor once though who accidentally stabbed himself in the chest with an X-Acto knife while working an a model battleship. Thankfully, he didn't hit any vital areas.

I nearly cut off my finger. I think I posted pictures. I was trying to cut through a chariot, and the blade just suddenly pooped through and lodged in the bone of one of my fingers, cutting through part of the finger by it.

Trod on a Chaos Terminator when I was 11 - real blood effect on the spikes on his shoulders. :P Other than that no nasty injuries, fortunately.
