Well, it has been a long time since I played a game of Yu-gi-oh as my gaming buddies and I are separated by the fact that we have to go on to colleges and such. I have not played the game for a royal term of 3 years.
Well that was the past anyway. three days ago, when I found out that another yu-gi-oh player is in my college class, which is my cllege teammate for an assignment. He loves to play yu-gi-oh, but the fact that he can't find a player caused him to go with the sad alternative of the video game version of it. After we discovered each other, we had a game with each other two days ago. The funny thing is that I have forgotten half of what my cards can do (as I play the Japanese Traditional tournament format and my Japanese reading have rusted alot) and I also forgotten some of the things I can do.. But even with that, I managed to wipe him out within 7 turns as a result of the fact that the cards that have the effect that I have the memory of just came out on top of the pile. So basically after the game decided to look on the net to remind myself about the effect of the cards that I have in my deck. Have you ever lost touch with a old game that you used to have but once you touched the game again you just go blank?

I find that all the time, like with 40k. I didnt play for a year, forgot all the rules, tried a game (And won somehow) but he to be constantly reminded how to play, and what to do (I played with tau but tried to utilise DE tactics) but that was a few months ago so im back to my good old uber self.
I aslo find it with video games, when you havent played them for a while but have been playing a similar game type. (e.g. FPS) and you try and play the old game like you would play a different game (Inc. the buttons pressed) needless to say i tend to get killed alot until i get the hang of things, its just the fact that you get rusty at these things, so you need reminding every now and again.

I have not found that yet. I stoped playing Magic Cards for four years, then I brought my deck to my wargamming place once and played some kid and actually beat him (strangely). I have no idea how to play Pokemon Cards though and I am pretty sure I still have my cards somewhere around.

I had stopped playing Magic for a handful (3? 4?) years before a random friend of mine came out of nowhere and was like "heard of that Magic game?" We played a game, I had no clue what I was doing, and I list miserably. I lost my edge.

Too true Laxlover. I find the inverse. I do things, put them away forever, and comeback with some weird amount of skillz for some reason.

I mainly find this with console FPS'... Halo, Battlefront, Call of Duty, etc. I'll go to a mates house for a day or two, play a bunch, and itll take me about an hour to re-learn the controls. After that, though, I am back to myslef. (Not bad at any of those games either)

I still remember the controls for most games I have not played in a while but I do not play really good at my ability. This happened with me in ace combat by not playing for two months and I was not as good.
Nice title by the way. In ace combat 5 there are 5 difficulty setting where you do not lose the edge. (note edge is a character.)
