Default 300: Movie

I saw it on Sunday night, and it was great. I watched it with my brother, a friend, and another friend who happens to be a girl (and happens to be hitting on me :S ). We were super excited, especially 'cause my dad knows the director (best friends at age 12). First scene was kind of dumb, and the wolf effects were crap. I thought about giving it a chance, and kept watching. He went up to the Oracle, and I was dissapointed by an erotic trance. When it showed the guys getting bribed, I got a bit more interested, but still. I was starting to wonder. Politics, blah blah blah, and then the guy gets pushed into a pit. What fun. So, I was practically getting ready to leave, and then it shows an unpleasant scene which includes a naked king, and his wife (including non-frontal exposure). I sat back down, just for the heck of it, and the scene passed. They started marching. I waited patiently for a fight scene, and was not dissapointed. That first fight is just so ispiring, I was happy. More battles, and then the mutants. I was a bit disgusted really. The movie could inspire racism, because it is saying that all the Persians were mutants or deformed in some way. Then the hunch-back (forget his name, I DO know it though...) goes to the Persians. More erotic dancing. Are we supposed to get horny? In any case, it didn't work, due to the guy's tight black underwear. Next scene, where his betrayal is revealed, I kind of laughed. Made fun of the battle formation, calling it a balding sea urchin. Then, when Xerxes is standing with his pelvis jutting out, I say loudly "Behold my glittery crotch!". The rest of the movie was kind of uneventful.... so yeah, what did you guys think of it?

The problem with this film is that people tend to watch it in a very stupid way.

The correct way to watch 300 is as follows:

#1: If possible, select a viewing area where alcohol can be consumed.

#2: If possible, select a viewing area where weapons can be waved about.

#3: Embrace your Spartan / Viking / Scottish / Cherokee heritage, and begin reciting battle chants prior to the opening credits.

#4: Once the film begins, shut down all parts of the brain not directly wired to your warrior side. Alcohol consumed in Step 1, and Battle / Funeral chants from Step 3, should assist in this.

#5: Enjoy the film for what it is: a glorious fight-fest filled with over-done heroics, corny-yet-brilliant dialogue, and three-hundred Spartans kicking the shit out of everyone. Don't try and read into "hidden meanings" and "social commentaries", because there are none. Give those Spartans a Bolter and a suit of Power Armour, change "Persians" to "Orks", and you'd have almost any 40K fluff piece ever written on the Astartes. Treat it as such.

You have an odd friend, I just spent the time trying to explain it wasn't supposed to be historicly accurate(except the phanlax fighting), it's based off a comic book based off the historic event. Took 'em forever to get that through.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

Frank Miller is officially my favorite comic book artist now.

Spartans, Yellow pedophiles, Ball shredding Detectives, hooker vigilantes, His comics have it all!

What? How? That was the most unrealistic phalanx I've seen, they just broke it halfway and started doing random cool crap.

Not that I'm complaining tho, cos as said they're doing random cool crap.

The movie was nothing but half naked men saying one liners while getting some action. Needless to say it is completely different from the softcore porn style the description says. 300 is actually good!

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.
