Default Catholic School aka The story of my life the past 3 years (Rant, LONG)

[Rant]
OK, so I have had it with my school... In case you didn't know, I'm an atheist who goes to a Catholic School, nice combo, eh?
I transferred to St. Bernard's High School from Waterford High School in my home town, away from all of my friends and into an unfamiliar realm. The reason I transferred is because my grades weren't what my parents wanted them to be :. To be honest, I didn't really do a lot, it was just about hanging around with all of my friends and having a good time. Anyway, that was freshman year, they had already threatened to send me there for freshman year, but I apparently promised to 'straighten up and fly right' that year. One of my friends was also transferring for the same reason I was, one of the reasons I consented to changing schools. I had been dealing with a lot of drama from this girl that I have a love/hate (mostly hate ) relationship with and thought I would do good from a change of scenery.
Well, I was the new kid for the first quarter of Sophomore year, until everyone noticed I had wicked sideburns (which are forbidden by the handbook, but I've only had to shave them once!), so they have called me "Burns" ever since. I have a made some good friends there, and it was actually because I went there that I now play 40k. One of the guys who I go to the local game place with goes to St. B's, I had met him over the summer through some older friendsips and ended up hanging with him for pretty much the whole school year. I met a lot of cool people there and some of the people on this planet that I wish never existed.
Everything seems OK, I got repremanded a few times for expressign my beliefs (or lack there of). They force me to go to mass just to stand and sit constantly while some moron rambles on about something I couldn't care less about. The first few weeks, I stood during the morning prayer just to be polite. Then one day I was tired and didn't feel like standing and I thought I had a good reason, after all I am an atheist. My homeroom teacher has a reputation for being an asshole sometimes... so he commands me to meet him in single combat... I mean the hall. He got up in my face (we're relatively the same height) asked me 'What are you, sick?' I said 'No, I'm an atheist.' 'I don't give a shit what you are, you are gonna stand during prayer. Are we clear?' was his reply. Now, I am an easy-going, laid back person, but that set me off, I was so angry that he would preach respect but then proved to me the two-sidedness of his sermon (metaphor, he's not a priest).
Speaking of teachers who hate me, my biology teacher. She was the the worst teacher I have every had, and I've had some bad ones (in 8th grade, I had an uber feminist teacher, I was one of 5 dudes in a class of 30. Guess what? I failed because I didn't share the same views as her). I didn't do very well in science the last year, but that by no means dictates that I suck at science, I was just lazy. She despised me, although denying it on many occasions. She thought I was disrespectful simply because she didn't like the way I spoke. One day she went off on me because she didn't like my tone when answering a question, I asked everyone who sat around me if what I said sounded disrespectful, none of them sided with her. Let's just say I barely passed that class for the year, again because of laziness.
Ironically, my favorite class was Theology (yes, I have to be preached to for a grade). Not because I wanted to be a devout catholic, but because what they believed and why fascinated me, be it a sick fascination. I got a decent grade for that class and the teacher really like me,a although I'm pretty sure he knew I was an atheist. He let me get away with so much only because he liked me, I had to do some beatitude (I think) for a project and illustrate it, I did the one about justice. My project was basically a piece of construction paper with magazine clippings of violent video games glued to it and the beatitude written in clipped letters, I got a B+ and the response 'Typical Elliott (my last name) humor."
About a month and a half into school, I confront my mother. I told her that I ****ing hate the school and I want out. She returns with this after a long pause: 'If you get good grades, you can go back to Waterford.' Later on, after I got one of my report cards, apparently disappointed, my dad told me that if I didn't get better grades I would go back to Waterford. Here is where I was a bit confused, it seems like a 'damned if I do, damned if I don't' paradox, I wasn't sure which road to take, because I was also threatened with military school. I am miserable in school for about another month and then I resolve to try and get good grades, because that would not allow the chance for military school and kinda help me in the futrue.
Schools out for summer! For the last month I had been telling people that I wouldn't be back, some said they'd miss me, others didn't seem to care. I got a job working at a state park for the summer with one of my 40k buddies, that was pretty much the main source of much of my army. All summer, I had this confidence like I was out of the woods, that things were finally looking up. Later in the summer, I asked my mother if I was going back to Waterford High, she wouldn't really answer me, just do things like smile, blow kisses or wink (my mom is weird). At first I didn't really think anything of it, then it really started to piss me off. I started to get a little worried when I saw my schedule for St. B's come in the mail. So I asked her again, and she didn't answer, so I flipped out and told her to give me a straight answer, and when she didn't, I knew exactly what the answer was. I the angriest I have ever been in my 16 years of existence (not to mention, I'm the kind that bottles things up, so this is that plus a bout 3+ other years of pent up rage piled on). I pretty much had an attitude for the rest of the month and I flipped out on everyone. I wanted to kill anyone and everyone I could get my hands on that had to do with this... This is also kind of ironic, as I apparently solved the paradox of getting grades high enough to 'stay out of Waterford' but not high enough to go back to Waterford.
Now, this disappointed a lot more people than just me, everyone I hung out with at Waterford was just about ready to kill to get me back, and I love them for it. Then there's my friend who transferred with me from Waterford the previous year. I hate him so much, he's so smug about my short comings... he seems to have some kind of man-spell that makes him irresistible to women, I seriously think he could have any woman he wanted on Earth, but the thing that makes me furious is that he doesn't go out with ANYBODY... Sometimes I just want to kill him so I don't have to deal with all of the girls that are interested in him. They approach me with questions, 'does Tom have a myspace?' 'does Tom have an AIM?' and a whole lot more, one of them was actually 'is Tom gay?' That one made me laugh a bit. And it's not like this only happened there, it was also the case at Waterford and probably will be the case wherever he goes. So not only does he have it made, something else goes wrong...
There was this girl that I was kind of going out with since the end of last school year, I thought our relationship was pretty good until someone told me she already had a boyfriend. Boyfriend!?!? WTF? Since when? They couldn't have told me last year when I started to flirt with her? This new boyfriend she got recently, while kinda still going out with me. I couldn't believe it, she wanted to make it sound like no big deal, but it was a big deal. She couldn't have called me and told me it was over? Granted I said I wasn't coming back and she looked surprised to see me sitting next to her in history (which is kinda awkward now)... I completely and totally lost interest in that relationship and we broke it off...
Now back to my terrible streak with women, the most recent experience with this being today. There is this Australian exchange student that I thought was kinda cute, so I decided I was gonna make a move. So I start talking to her in/about our French class (this began earlier this week). Today, one of the kids I'm friends with sits next to me at mass, which I was annoyed that I had to deal with, he has the most vulgar mouth and no shame. He asks her, being seated in front of us, to have sex with her just to see her reaction. 'I already have a boyfriend' the last thing I wanted to hear come out of her mouth next to 'let's just be friends.' So I was pretty pissed the rest of the day because of mass and the fact that I don't have a shot in hell with her...
[/Rant]

Respond if you like, I just needed to vent...

What can I say? Girls only go for vacant, hair-jelled "non-threatening", [insert popular rock/pop star here] look-alikes in high school, it's only later(somewhere in the mid twenties aprox.) that they even consider going out with the normal looking guy who plays 40k(yes, I am a little bitter >).

Why in the name of Jesus the savior would your parents ever send a sinner like you to Catholic school? :P

Welcome to the world of suxors. A place that will only be cured by devout anger and controlled fury. I am a deist- I believe that God (whichever one it turns out to be in the end) created everything and then said "alright, now survive." and kicked back with a cool glass of divine nectar. It's troubling to hear my religion teacher (Catholic school too, but It's a cool place to go.) not be able to give a hard and solid argument against Deism.

Meh... He's still a cool guy.

well first things first Catholic school sucks! I was an atheist at a Catholic school as well! (I didn't fit in to well)
I had to go too mass every thursday! it is a nice place to sleep btw. Saying to your teachers face that you were an atheist was not a good idea, I almost got slapped becuase I said that once. About teachers, BE AS STUPID AS YOU CAN BE WITHOUT GOING TO THE OFFICE!!!!, Have fun getting yelled at lighten up! if you know you didn't do anything fool around, and try to out wit her/him, make it a game.
The school situation is a little risky. Basically you have to listen to parents conversations about you and think about them. But before all of that start failing. It's not that hard. THough if your parents are talking about sending you to millitary school, get those grades UP!!! On girls
i'm sorry but an exchange student! what were you thinking?! I wouldn't be surprised if she had 4 boy friends! it's not like anything would happen anyways.

I don't think the phrase "Catholic School" should even exist in this day and age, and the church should get it's head out of it's rectum now and stop pretending it rules the earth and space, before we see Muslim schools and such crop up everywhere (Especially at a time where isolated communities are more and more dangerous). What honestly makes Catholocism so special it requires it's own schools? Or are they afraid of, gasp, ideas that don't sync up with the churches?

Oh, yeah, and aren't there laws against religious discrimination? If they're happy to let an atheist in only to start demanding they change, surely it's time for the lawsuits? Hell, it's no stretch to call it a minor first amendement issue.

Really there are that many Atheist hiding somewhere in my catholic school? Well, I beat YOU ALL! My principal IS A NUN! I am taught religion BY A NUN!
She really freaks me out because no matter what she does she's always smilling. I suppose she is the perfect example of living in the glory of God but still it freaks me out.

Prime example. I'll set the scene first. It's friday, I am extremely tired because I got semi-food poisining from veal last night (I like to imagine the baby cow got it's revenge). So here I am laying on my desk still feeling slightly nauseous. The nun being old-school (sometimes wonderfully so) Ask me if I am sick. I reply no. So she says:" [glow=red,2,300]THEN GET UP THANK GOD FOR THIS GOOD HEALTH[/glow] en francais of course.

I didn't know wether to be seriously freaked out, be embarassed or outraged. So, I just smiled and nodded. Stuff like this happens every religion class and I don't know if I enjoy it or not.

By the way I'm agnostic/theist.

Black Mage: That's pretty much the way i see it. God created the world(in 7 days if you believe the puritans, in 7 stages if you believe anyone with common sense), created man(from dust if you believe puritans, through guiding the evolutionary path if you believe the more open minded christians), and is now sitting back and watching what we do. Sent Jesus in to sort us out when things where going down the crapper. Apparently mankind doesn't care and so God is sitting in heaven until we blow ourselves up.

Terminatus: What can i say mate, just hang in there. I'd say that when God closes a door, he opens a window, but i think you've had enough with God for a few days. I can certainly understand your annoyance during mass, im not allowed to drink beer or eat pork for all of ramadan becuase of a project our school is doing to try to understand islam better. Its a christian school, funded by the church, and they're telling me i have to follow the views of another religion? Supposedly it'll bring the islamic community together to avoid religious extremis among them, and allow more tolerance.

Bit confused about this. Your mom says if you get good grades you get to go to Waterford, your dad says if you get bad grades you'll get sent to waterford. While it is 'damned if you do, dmaned if you dont' couldn't it also be considered to be 'you win if you do, you win if you dont' since no matter what your grades are someone will want you at waterford?

You'd have thought the worst posible answer would be: "Ok"
